Concerns About Rayman Legends
Dear Ubisoft:
I am a HUGE fan of Rayman Origins and Ubisoft Montpellier. I bought it day one on the PS3 and encouraged everyone else to do so. I even became an amateur gaming journalist because of my love for it. In my 20+ years of gaming, it quickly vaulted its way up to become one of my favorite games of all time. Every sight and sound was perfect. Rayman Legends also looks amazing. That rhythmic level looked insane and I love the rock n roll influences. However, I'm a bit concerned with the favoring of the WiiU. Rumors are it could even be exclusive.
Everything I saw during the demo could also be done with the PS3 and Move. Much like the LittleBigPlanet Move content, one player can use the motion controller while others use traditional controllers. The PS3 supports up to 7 controllers, so having 5 players would also not be a problem. Granted there are probably some things a tablet could do that a motion controller can't, but the opposite could also be true. I just don't see the WiiU as much of an innovative machine.
If I have to buy a WiiU to experience Legends I will. I would just prefer not to. Especially after Nintendo bastardized the Rayman franchise with the Rabbids games.

Hi there,
I have moved your thread into the new Rayman Legends forum.

I too share your concerns TC. Except in my case, I'm not getting a WiiU at all, ever. Well, I'll never say never, but I'm not going to buy a WiiU just for Rayman Legends. My main concern and wish is that you guys over at Ubisoft release this game for the Vita. Origins works so well when played on the Vita, as I'm sure many are aware of (go read ANY forum that discusses Origins for the Vita). Not only that, the Vita could very well provide all (or most) of the new/different elements of gameplay seen in Legends that the WiiU will have. With its touchscreen, both rear & front, its gyroscope, and other features, I think a Vita version of Rayman Legends could very well compliment the WiiU version. I'm sure all of the brilliant devs at Ubisoft can dream of thousands of new concepts and different ways to play this game on the Vita!!
And even though Origins didn't sell well for the Vita, I think that had more to do with the Vita being a new handheld gaming system than it did anything else (that plus Sony and their lack advertising their new system??). Once the Vita has established itself in the market with more time and more games, I think a lot of people would jump on the opportunity to be able to play Legends on the go... not to mention you would probably see a resurgence in sales of the first game/Origins.
At the very least, in regards to how insanely excited I am about the new Rayman Legends game, I would hope that you guys don't make this game exclusive to only the WiiU. At least put it on the PS3 & 360, and if possible the PC. These 2 (Origins & Legends) games are a beautiful thing for a number of reasons... to see a re-newed interest in 2D platformers with stunning hand drawn visuals is a thing I never thought I would see again. I've been playing 2D platformers since the original Mario and to this day I still believe these types/styles of games provide me (IMO) with the most fun/pure joy/nostalgia/true gaming experience/etc. etc. and the list goes on. I always come back to them. The fact that you guys even attempted & created such a game, during a time where everything is now in 3D, says a lot about how serious people are at Ubisoft when making and pouring their love into their games. When I heard about Origins coming to the Vita, and then I played it, it made my year(or more) knowing and seeing with my own eyes how well 2D platformers (new & old gen) could/will work on the PS Vita (a handheld that thus far has turned out to be my favorite system EVER, literally, portable or console). I compliment you all for keeping the idea of 2D gaming alive... which is as of now thriving!
So, with all of that said, my plea is this...
I beg of you guys at Ubisoft... please continue to support the Vita like you have done with Origins (AND Lumines AND Asphalt) and release Rayman Legends on the PS Vita. It doesn't have to be at the same time as any of the other consoles/systems. As long as it comes to the Vita, my life will be complete. The Vita cannot handle all types of current gen home console-style games... however it can handle these 2 2D-style Rayman games. In fact I would say that they thrive on a system like the Vita. Its brilliant OLED screen really brings out the true visual artwork present in this game... as I'm sure it would also do for Legends. On a related side note... I also hope to see you guys make more 2D style platformers using your other franchises or even new original ones!?!? Good luck with that... and do remember that there is and always will be a rather large & steady fanbase of 2D style platformers/games.
Again I beg on my hands & knees... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring Legends out on the Vita!!!
Thanx to anyone over at Ubisoft for taking the time to read my post/wish. Keep up the good work Ubisoft, you have my support!!
