Just loaded the latest version with the plane changes, can't hardly play one before you have another ready, haha.
First, a float plane flew by in sight, medium height, but did not attack, although the gunner tried to shoot, but too far away...I was like, how'd he not see me. He came back a lil later, same thing, I just kept a going. Finally, another plane came, I let it sight me to see effect, he attacked, I dived.. Within an hour, a few more joined, they were doing search patterns hehind me, but had radar up and watched, wasn't long a few more joined, they search rather well. I dived on down for an hour, came up, still planes a searching, sometimes up to 6. Seem to work good, one group would search a few hours, leave, but others took over. They kept me down all day. I was in Formosa near several airbases, so this felt very realistic. Later, leaving in the open sea got a radar contact and dived, never spotted, but heavy planes all day....basically down all day again. This may be a lil too much, they weren't searching, but just many spawned planes. Overall, very good, just started one patrol so I'll see how it progresses, love the traffic when spotted, seems a lil much when not as of now.
Edit:
Just took a beating, lost engines and electrics, lot's of other stuff, but survived, now sitting dead on the water waiting for stuff to repair, what will...lol.
One adjustment I would request is maybe lowering the health, I've got 70% of my crew injured, most in the 80-90%, so in trouble. I would think crew fighting to save the ship would work with a few broken bones at 90% health. Maybe 10-20% lower on health, we need to get moving and all these wimps with a few bruises won't do anything.
A few planes joined the escorts, lucky for me a plane sunk one of his escorts......
I played around with version 2.0 last weekend just to see how it looked. I let myself get worked over by some coastal patrol boats until I sank. It actually sank and just sat there instead of ending the career right away. That was pretty cool. I especially like how the camera angle gets all screwed up in the sub when it's sitting layed over on its side.
I also noticed what seemed like an awful lot of planes. Running from Tulagi to Rabaul in early '43, I had air contacts constantly everyday and basically had to run submerged. It seemed like a lot of planes.
I did let one plane bomb me, and noticed that it came in very low compared to most others, probably only a couple thousand feet or less. It dropped a bomb well short of the boat that didn't do any damage. I thought it might even be an American plane for a while, but by the time I could see the meatballs it was pretty much over me. It just did a straight pass over, no dive or anything. Definitely a different look and something new.
I got a new career all set up with the newest version last night. Plan on running a whole patrol over the weekend if I have time. Porpoise class out of Perth-Freemantle in May of 1942; first patrol is the top of the Makassar Strait. Should see plenty of action to test things out.
Well, I love the plane behavior in certain places and how they hunt for you, I hope you can adjust less planes not spotted without screwing up how planes respond when they see you. It certainly is realistic to have numerous planes near many airbases. I love what you've done to crew ratings, just like to see it toned down just a tad...
Repairs are very realistic, I was on the surface 3 days and my engines still were only 20% repaired.
What would be neat, but from what I can tell not possible is somehow attach pumps to silent running..Pumps work regardless of silent running on, pumps should not engage if SR is on.
Also not sure about buoyancyduring flooding, before with flooding it took some time to gain control and get your sub moving up. Even with major flooding, when you get your sub headed up, it seems to almost skyrockets up in second, before a much slower process. Heading down, it's also faster, but that's OK, a sub in an out of control dive should head for the bottom fast. However, if you had to rework damage zones to correct this, I would leave it alone, not that big of a deal, just have to learn to be prepared for it.
Regarding the link. I attempted to register, password accepted, but login NOT accepted. I decided to attempt a download, assuming the interface was screwed up and was able to get this file: "iLividSetupV1.exe". I haven't done anything with it since I wasn't expecting a file with that name. I tried again and this time got some other message - tried to get email sent for password change and then decided to just give up.
I'm not going to extract anything until I know what I have. Assistance/reassurance would be appreciated.
Paul.
Been awhile since I went to the DL site, but it confused me. Seems it takes you to Travellers Mods and a DL option, but that's for the site, not the mod...Scroll down in forums to his mod, open it and use the link in his thread, if you do it the other way, not sure what you're DL. but my avast picked it up as Adware, the link in his thread worked fine, didn't have to login or register and checking with avast seemed good.

At scope depth, later a few aircraft came from other bases, started searching and dropping bombs, later more joined, again I was kept down all day, this seemed realistic as before in Formosa with so many bases near by. Seems aircraft show and hunt longer now when a merchant spots you, they didn't hunt long before. I have several sub killer groups in Formosa, seems the planes had no problems calling them in to join the hunt, when two groups showed up, wasn't long they found me and I had several planes and ships dropping, I ended up again on the bottom, damaged, couldn't do anything....We died couple days when CO2 levels killed us, a first for me .
I had no problems getting into the site and downloading, but I am a bit leery about not having 'dud' torpedo experts. The duds in game are not modeled historically. In game there is a percentage of them being either duds or not, when historically they had a better chance exploding if you hit the target at an angle or at the turn of the bilge. I love early war, pre-radar, play....but without the torpedo experts I have a feeling I'll be dumping the career and going back to my previous mod set up.
