Thank you for the kind words. I must say that I have missed this "bag of mixed nuts" and will try to visit more often.

I'm also shocked about the SS Comp. What happened?

I hereby pledge to enter each month if we could bring it back. I personally think the old rules were quite adequate and fair, and if everyone would actually vote honestly what they truly believe to be the best 2 shots ( which I could honestly say I did ), MWolfe would probably still take first place, but we'd all still have a chance at second, right? Seems the only problem we had with the contest (when I was more active here) was participation (entering and voting). And judging by last Aprils contest, It got progressively worse. It seems we had the same problem when I joined the forum. I do remember making a concerted effort to get members fired up to get it rolling again and it gathered quite a bit of steam for quite awhile. Then something must've happened. I'm guilty of not participating after the format change, and then my life got a little complicated and I put a lot of things on the back burner, including this forum. But things are starting to get a little better for me and I've decided that I will just have to make more time for things I truly enjoy.

By the way, can anybody explain to me why my avatar is so gigantic now. Is it just on my computer, or is it that huge to everyone?

Well, I don't think the SS contest is over, seems with Wolfez gone, no one to host it, but Capt offered, then the gal suggested a SS sticky....and wala, but I don't think Tambor was replacing the contest with the SS thread. I think numerous people here would run it, just need to get interest back up, had a few bad months....So I hope you come around and enter. I think when Tambor gets back here and replies to his SS thread and some decisions are made, it will be back and up.... I hope it remains, least we had something the other forum didn't. I'm sure if you and Wern enter shots, my percents will go back down.

As you know, it was never about winning anyhow. (I'm sure Wern would agree) Although it is nice to take an SS that takes first place, to me it was never about winning. Seems the title is what won many a comp. That's what made it fun. Even having to vote for a shot better than ones own submission, and hoping to God it wasn't submitted by MWolfe.... AGAIN, was quite entertaining to say the least. I always felt the Comp was important for us and hoped more new Captains would enter and compete.
Here's an idea just as a side note, and this may have already been suggested. Why not have a Comp of previous Comps. Get the first and second place winners of say the last six month's or year, and make that a contest also. I bet we'd be surprised to see a former 2nd place take it. Just a thought. Always wondered why we never did that at the end of the year anyhow.
Anyway, it's my guess that you, Mwolfe, have deleted more great shots than Wern and I have taken combined.

Tambor started a thread about the SS contest, what we could do, etc.. Mostly it was Wern and I, not sure why others didn't take an interest. In other threads we discussed trying other things, themes, etc...I wanted to bring back SS of the year when we used past winners all year like we once had, no problem throwing 2nd place into the mix.....As we both agree not much interest here it seems among other people. Hopefully Tambor will jump back in on his SS thread, maybe you can add your input there.

Yea, I agree people vote on many issues, a good title often can do the trick....Beginning to think might be best to try a contest over at the other forum.

I've been posting sporadically but I'll officially check in here. Currently engaged in what is turning into an interminable patrol (real time) - 15 June 1944 has lasted about 5 days. I'll write it up, with some accompanying screen shots, in the fullness of time.

I have no Idea, thought about trying to fix it, but It's kinda grown on me. ( I apologize for the shameful pun by the way.) I believe it started with the new format.

If you've got it, flaunt it. I suppose the new format has finally been to someone's benefit (chuckle).
BTW, I think we should leave the SS comp the way it is, though I do like the idea of having a "Best Of" comp at the end of the year.
