Can't believe I actually pre-ordered the game after take a massive dump on it 6 months ago and retreated back to the African savannah swearing vengeance on Ubisoft with my rusty malfunctioning SPAS... But I think somewhere in between I just gave up and accepted that people will never understand Far Cry 2. But honestly though; the more I read and watch gameplay, I appreciate that Ubi did not TOTALLY condemned FC2 as a "failure".
I was only able to find footages on "Survivor" difficulty (I assume this is Hard difficulty?), and it feels a little bit too "relaxed" in terms of pressure... The combat though, still feels heavy footed like FC2 (at least earlier in the game), which is good news. But enemies, however smart they are, they tend to die after one or two shots; which bothers me a little.
Another thing I have to criticize: For a game that seemingly promotes player's freedom, which encourages experimentations and exercise tactical planning; taking away respawning outposts seems like irony to me. In the long run, the world would feel empty and gameplay less dangerous as Jason gradually becomes a deadlier killing machine. What is up with this gaming generation and the constant need to feel badass and soothe its ego through so called "RPG" elements that "levels" up your character, and getting hold hands through flashy graphics and corridor of explosions? This is ruining all aspect of gaming because developers think that players want these things in their games.
One more thing: Unpredictability... I can still see unpredictable elements in FC3, but it just boils down to random jerks on jeeps and occasional tigers. Gone are the days of a perfectly planned assault ruined by a malfunctioned RPG that blew up your hands, set your pants on fire and alert half the country... as you haul your bleeding-out *** across the burning savannah dodging machine gun fires from an army of Hawkeyes....Gone are the days of sneaking your clumsy *** into a camp and being greeted by a loud as **** shotgun blast from behind that startled you, your dog, your little brother and made him cry.
The unpredictability is still in FC3, but it lacks the oppressiveness and aggression of FC2. In general, FC3 really seems like a mellowed out FC2. Fears were realized and hopes were refurnished. So I just hope, for the love of God, that the harder difficulties (assuming that they are even there) retains the hardcore elements that have made the second game great.
I just notice I probably derailed the threat there, so my apologies, OP. I'll probably post a full review of the game once I get it so people who give a **** can take a look.
Sooo... If the devs would listen and make a DLC that give us back our REAL Far Cry, that would be great.
You can turn auto-aim off on consoles (thank god), and I play with auto-aim off. It's easier if you're going for the headshot with auto aim off, since it not tends to get drawn to the chest.Originally Posted by abon123 Go to original post
Survivor isn't hard, it's normal made. Recommended to play this on it's hardest setting though (Warrior).Originally Posted by k4Anarky2011 Go to original post
You sure get to a lot of conclusions from watching videos.
Do you even play this game?
Alright thanks. My opinion mostly base on what I've seen and read so far. Couple other reviewers have been saying the same thing. It's not bad-bad... but to people who love FC2 it's more or less a disappointment.Originally Posted by Ambi-DeXter Go to original post
I'm in the US so I have to wait 4 more days. I'll get it and probably blog a review or something. For the sake of future Far Cry games.
