Hi...I just had a question about a potential RAM upgrade.

How do I know if my mobo would suppert ECC RAM or not? I have a GigaByte GA-8S661FXM; the GigaByte website doesn't say anything either way in the FAQs or the mobo specs. Only reason I ask is I may have found a great deal (on eBay) for 2 gigs of PC3200 ECC, but I don't want to buy it if it won't work.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Safest bet is to post a note in the Gigabyte forums, maybe go to sites like www.bleedinedge.com and post a question in their memory forums, someone there will probably hae an answer.

Looking at the specs of your board I see you only have 2 DIMM slots, So I assume you are buying (2) 1 Gig sticks ?

Normally, if the mobo does mentioned it, the answer is no. Looking through the manual it doesn't list it has a feature, But you might get lucky.

Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to check out that site ASAP. And yes, the auction is for 2 1-gig sticks, so it would work out prefectly if I buy them.

I'm not quite sure what you meant by this, but I'm assuming you mean that if ECC compatibility isn't mentioned in the specs or anything of that sort, it probably doesn't have it. Correct me if I misunderstood, but that's what I figured you meant.

    Again, thanks for your help!!
