Ghost Recon was among the most played games on Xbox LIVE once and Im pretty sure it could be again. And on PSN of course. Back then I used to change between stealth and tactics in GR and tons of action in Counter Strike or Halo. All depending on mood. These days EVERY game is about hard scripted storys in singleplayer and loads of action and k/d stats in multiplayer. What happend to variety? If feels pretty weird it was better in 2002/3 than it is now. Sure todays games looks better but graphics isnt everything and all players does not want high paced games online...
While i did enjoy past GR games a great deal, and i would also like a "hardcore mode" in this game with no auto-heal and higher weapon damage/lower total health, I think you all are missing the point of this game.
Its called Ghost Recon FUTURE SOLDIER, its all about the advancements of technology on the battlefield, the remote cameras, the sensor grenades, incapacitating an enemy to hack him and get his intel to find out where his comrades are located.
Now i think some of the implementation of these "features" in the game could use some tweaking, but if you take them out completely then its just GR with newer graphics.
Great games have to evolve to stay great, if you just rehash the same game over and over it gets stale, ie CoD, in the early days of the franchise it was a fantastic game, (CoD4 being the peak of the whole series) but now is just the same old stale, boring, rehashed game it has been for the past several years.
And this would be a bad thing because...Originally Posted by G8KeeperJim Go to original post
And yet that "same old stale, boring, rehashed game" has something like 3 or 4 of the top 5 most played games on Xbox live every week. People like what they're familiar with. When games try to buck trends (Brink, Homefront) they crash and burn. GRFS is bucking trends. Let's see what happens.Great games have to evolve to stay great, if you just rehash the same game over and over it gets stale, ie CoD, in the early days of the franchise it was a fantastic game, (CoD4 being the peak of the whole series) but now is just the same old stale, boring, rehashed game it has been for the past several years.
oh dont misunderstand me, i know CoD is the best selling fps franchise around, it is to fps's what WoW is to MMO's and alot of players like it, but alot of those same players complain and leave the game after playing it for just a short time because it is a "been there, done that" game, theres nothing new to it, and alot play it just because there is nothing else out there to play according to their taste of fps.Originally Posted by KamakazeTaco Go to original post
Im just saying something new, "bucking the trend" as you say, isnt neccessarily a bad thing.
And i cant speak of Brink as i never played it, but Homefront was a good game, it failed because of a very small amount of maps for each game type(Like 2 or 3 per mode) massive bugs that the devs refused to fix and then they tried to release dlc map packs to grab peoples money and still never fixed the bugs it had on release.
I love the GR franchise, i would still be playing graw2 if there were actually people playing it.
Haha, did you play Brink? Dude it sucked. It was generally underwhelming in every area besides customization.Originally Posted by KamakazeTaco Go to original post
And Homefront seemed to be the poor man's Battlefield.
Sometimes new things fail not because they're different, but they just weren't well executed.
