Sorry guys - I went a bit over the top but think I got a large majority of the questions which people have asked over the time these Discussion Forums have been going.
I removed the Voice Chat question as it has been confirmed that we will have Voice Chat available in game on all platforms.
I was also trying to find a section that I watched on a video interview where they mentioned other maps (not the standard type) but the Glitch or maybe Escape / Crazy type of maps which are not serious but more for fun, something was mentioned where you can still find those maps but you have to go through several folders or doors to find them.
This has me thinking that there will be different areas to download maps depending on what you want - like a main map folder and maybe a sub folder where other maps can be found, but in a Hub format for map downloads.
Also a question could be to try and find out more reference the Gifting which is another part of the social networking feature.
And the Battle Cry - the combinations and number of different battle cries and perks to unlock in the game, One member on here said about Battle Cry been abused by players all running into a group quickly to boost their battle cry XP - that was an interesting question.
Again sorry guys for going over the top but I got your backs covered - I thought getting a lot of the stuff out in the open gives Gearhead an area to return to and give answers whenever they are allowed to discuss certain aspects of the game - I just had to ask.
I had to throw this in after just watching that video with the weapons on the wall.
With Far Cry 2 there were a couple of weapons that basically killed the multiplayer - and there were those gun turrets that made the screen shake all over the place which got annoying for me very quickly when players just constantly used them, Somewhere someone posted that the sniper rifle was a 1 shot kill - The question is this, Have you had to place in specific handicaps to make certain weapons less harmful or to make the player have a harder time.
An example is this - You could make the zooming in a fraction longer or the swaying on the scope a little harder to steady or reloading a slight bit longer, Basically I am asking if you have made exceptions to some weapons so that a player does not have Total Control / Domination - In FC2 with some weapons it was like they had a god like mode turned on because they could hit and kill anything with very little skill.
Hey Gearhead,
First of all nice to meet you
I will introduce myself: My name is Tom and I live in Belgium you know that small country with his chocolat, French fries (although I don't know why they call it FRENCH fries) and(the most important) beer.
Also I think the MP looks great but I'm a little bit concerned about the map editor (please not something like HALO forge) will it be as big as the one in Far Cry 2? (which is maybe impossible without vehicles). But anyway so far you all did a great job
Greatz: tominatorx2010
(BTW I like vikings)
tominatorx2010 Bruges is one of the nicest places I have visited, I will definitely go back - Although small there is a lot of history and things to see, I went on a brewery visit and found that your Beers are all natural ingredients and very strong and the crap in England is full of chemicals and weak (unless you are a Real Ale drinker)
I also made the mistake of saying I got drunk on Jupiler which is apparently a woman's drink (it is stronger than standard lagers over here though so I am not ashamed & I did drink a lot of it)
Jupiler = 5.2% our Rubbish lager's average around 4.2% - The Result is that English can't handle their grog it seems.
Gearhead what are the beers like in Sweden?
Well...they seem to be a 'Farcry' from what you're used to drinking...LOLOriginally Posted by LAMBCHOP1972 Go to original post

Welcome, it's nice there's a second community developer in here.
I've got a few questions for ya'.
1. Are you going to ship with a complete (Or almost complete) map editor for the PCs this time? (Extends the game's life time a LOT.)
2. If you are not going to ship with a full map editor, are you going to have vehicles in the more limited editor, by default (For custom maps.)?
Last one - I promise (all maxed out now - but this I feel is a good question)
With Ubisoft Montreal creating the Single Player game and Ubisoft Massive - Sweden doing the Multiplayer and the Editor I would like to know who dictates what goes into the Editor where items and vegetation is concerned, Massive were you told that you can include anything from the single player game already made, or do you have the freedom to design and include your own stuff for the editor.
And Massive I am sure you guys have played most of the single player game that is available to you so if you are navigating through a section have you seen anything where you have thought "I can make this area into a multiplayer map"? Because some areas in the video look the same as sections shown in the Single Player game (Fish Market been one) can you manipulate these areas to suit you needs for multiplayer.
And in Far Cry 2 one of the worst thins I witnessed was the collision detection with the terrain, In a lot of areas it was dreadful trying to get out of the water onto what looked like flat land (everything had to be super smooth) Did you have to address this for Far Cry 3
How will the lobbie's work? will it be public ranked and private non-ranked.
In FC2, the forums i'm a part of only ever played in private lobbies, will there be the diamond style upgrades for unlocking weapons in private for those that prefer not to play ranked or will ranked lobbies have to be played to unlock and use the weapons in private?
hope that makes sense, lol
Welcome GearHead, and thanks for making yourself available to the community.
About the multiplayer:
It appears you have borrowed ideas from other games for FC3, mainly the COD series. Game play does look smoother than FC2, and that's a good thing. How much did you discuss developing your own unique gameplay elements vs borrowing from other series?
It seems like there's a lot going on with the HUD during gameplay. Are there options to change or disable the HUD?
My understanding is that the game ships with 4 modes and 10 maps. 4 modes isn't enough, so do you plan to add more game modes at a later date?
About the Battle-Cry, it has possibilities IF you can keep your team together. But that's not the nature of the beast for consoles, just too many randoms. Are you concerned that this team perk will become a frustrating barrage of airstrikes by organized teams? Also, is there any way players could abuse Battle-Cry by boosting?
About the map editor/custom games:
Will there be a custom game lobby?
Will we have options to turn off perks, killstreaks, weapons, etc?
Can we still control map size, terrain, vegetation, and textures? Are there still options for those besides 'Jungle'?
Will you make all the brushes from single player available in the editor?
Can we lock our maps from being edited by others?
Is there a limitation for maps published per author?
Again, thanks for joining in here and hope we don't overwhelm you![]()
