Hi guys!
I'd like to start off positively. AC:R seems to be a great game, I'm enjoying it a lot... but I don't understand why it's so difficult to achieve an OPEN NAT... with a lot of games out there lately.
I'll tell you what I have done so far:
1) I have opened UPnP
2) Making my PC a DMZ is not an option
3) I have tried forwarding ports to my pc specifically, which didn't make a difference
4) I have read almost every article I could find related to the problem within 3 pages on google... and we all know that page 2 of google is the best place to hide a dead body.
5) I have no special anti-virus software
6) I tried with Windows Essentials and Firewall disabled.
My Router is a FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 and is fully updated to the latest version of firmware (Firmware version 29.04.82).
I am in Delft, The Netherlands and my ISP is XS4ALL.
I can play with Moderate NAT but sometimes I cannot join my friends and it takes a while to find a game.
Thanks in advanced,
Aidan/Yiddus/iSnuggle.
Hi, few things to check here;
The IP address of the PC is static.
You should have either UPnP OR port forwarding not both as this may cause problems.
There is also a thread here which may help http://www.fixya.com/search/p2511944...rou/strict_nat
it took a lot of screwing around for me to get three bars of NAT. This is my current configuration, of which I haven't tried removing unnecessary ports - I figure why mess with it if it's working. Anyway, I had to:
a) ensure the firewall on my computer was disabled (I have a LAN, why do I need a firewall on the computer)
b) Enable uPNP on my router
c) Forward UDP ports 7959, 21200, 3074, 9100, 12000-12009 from my router to my PC
d) Forward TCP and UDP ports: 1000, 7917, 1900 from my router to my PC
There are probably a lot of unnecessary ports forwarded, but I'm not about to break the configuration!
Good luck.
