Hi all,
I'm UbiTim, the Community Developer on Far Cry 3 at Ubisoft Montreal! We've got a lot more to show you between now and September. I hope you'e looking forward to it!
In a couple of weeks we’ll be doing our first series of Q&A videos with the Far Cry community. Leave a question below and I’ll see what I can answer when we release the videos!
Tim
"hey guys look we got the comm dev"!
Hey. I can't wait to see what will be shown and here is the question I have to ask:- Will there be a beta / game demo for consoles? And, hope to see posts by you in the near future
Also Will there be a map editor?
my last question is:- Will there be a map database built into the forums this time?
Awesome! Nice to meet ya!
The length of the campaign has been described at around 20 hours in some of the interviews I've seen. Does that include using fast travel and only sticking to the story? What kind of play time would you expect if you never used fast travel and completed every possible mission in the game? Is that the 20 hours?
Also, will the fire physics (which were so well done in Far Cry 2) be returning in Far Cry 3?
Thank the great bountiful gaming gods.So glad we can actually gain info right here on the forums.

I don't want to add to your most-likely overwhelming amount of questions, but I have a couple.
1. Is this game, overall, attempting to be a "fun" shooter, or more realistic? It looks more like an entertainer, (Which is GOOD in my opinion) than a realistic shooter. Of course, you have to find a balance of this, (Call of Duty is "fun", ish, but is WAY too unrealistic. While games like Arma are far too realistic for me.) It looks like a good mix so far.
2. Vehicles. I know there are vehicles, but can we please have some more gameplay? Also: will there be many different types of generic vehicles, adding a little more variation to your exploration?I see the hovercraft is back, (me gusta.
) and I see a little Navy SEAL-type inflatable in the main Far Cry 3 poster, but anything like speedboats or other civillian water transportation?
3. Will there be trophies/achievements for Far Cry 3?! I know Far Cry 2 had them, but you never know... Also, on the subject of trophies: will there be any sort of trophy/achievement that rewards you for exploring and finding things like, say, artifacts, or special places around the island? That would really add to it all.
I hope you can answer these...![]()
@slimphilthy
To "complete" this game, (100% it) it was said by some developers to be far over thirty. While exploring at your own will like a maniac, (me) it will probably be a solid 35 - 40 hours. But that's just from what I've heard.
Sweet, I feel the need to come up with some questions so.
1: Compared to Farcry 2, how much would you say the Game-play has Improved?
[FC2 game-play was awful, trying to get out of the water felt impossible, the turning felt stiff and the 'Aim down sight' sensitivity in comparison to the magnitude of the 'Hip fire' sensitivity felt slow and clumpy]
2: Do different segments of the island(s) contain various styles, or does the island as a whole have the same style through-out?
3: Do the 'Skill points' we earn have massive impact in the game-play, or are they slight changes?
4: Through-out the game will Jason Brody always be a lone fighter or can we expect some assistance on some missions?
5: Can we expect to see a variety of different ammo types?
---More random questions---
6: Can I go hunt animals with a RPG?
7: Will I see any one of my favorite guns in the game; M60, Model 1887, AW50, AS50 or Sawn off Shotgun? A simple 'yes or no' would be satisfying.
That's alot of questions, but I wanted to give you a good selection.
Hi Tim.
1. About the AI.
One of FC2's problems was the AI. Overall, I like the AI but many times, I was frustrated because of the cheap AI, e.g. just after a dart rifle shot, they spot you, or run towards you, or I got spotted even though I was crouching in a bush, wearing camosuit, and it was at night. So, my question is: is the AI improved this time ?
2. Destructibility.
FC2 has many great features like the propagation of fire but it the destruction was very limited. Will FC3 have more destruction ?
Thanks.
