I've heard said that he was quite a "down to earth person" and not self absorbed like so many other music idols. I feel especially saddened at his passing because of the nature of the Monkees music. I know I'm not the only one to feel that this life has been rather disappointing, but I don't think anyone would quite believe the incessant adversity that I've had to endure since my childhood. Through the years,it has made me more stoic and especially suspicious of others (great for my current profession). In other ways it's been a haunting curse that I can never seem to escape from, save through Christ. All that aside, the song "Daydream Believer" is an embodiment of the upbeat, positive, outlook that the Monkees sound generated and also of my resolve in searching out the positive, rather than negative aspects of life, despite it ever being an uphill battle. Hence my despair at the loss of Davy Jones, who happens to have a specific locker named after him. I think all sub simmers could appreciate that.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing that Yooper.
See? Upbeat and positive.![]()
