Patrolling
Can anybody please tell me for how long I actually(in game time) have to patrol an area before the yellow camera turns to grey, and how big an area should I cover while patrolling? For instance - "control the South China seas" - now that covers a lot of ground, errrrr,,,, sea.
Please????

Two answers. You probably thought it was simple didn't you?
If the yellow star has a flag in it, then if you get close enough, it will turn gray and you will receive further orders. If it has binoclulars in it, then you have to get within a 50 nm radius and remain within the circle until the patrol time is over, usually within three days. If you leave the patrol zone, then the clock starts over again. The addition of mods changes the rules.

@fireftr18: thanks very much for your reply. I just never knew how to do this, but thanks to great co-players I now do! I never thought it was simple, though....

I want to thank all of you co - skippers for your replies. Donna, thanks for that link which was of tremendous help. I thought I was not a total newbie, because I have played and loved the game for years, but never intensively. Now I realize how much I have actually been missing. It is a great game, and you are a great bunch!
