Does anbody know who the fellow was who drew the 'Sad Sack' comics character ?

Wasn't he a contemporary of Bill Mauldin ?

My dad has a box my grandfather's wartime posessions, one of them being a newspaper containing this cartoon.

I have a 1945 copy of Mauldin's book, "Up Front" that belonged to my father. It is a typical postwar book, ie, a cheap clothbound hardback with very thin paper. I used to get my father to read the cartoons to me when I was a little kid.
