There are worse communities, trust me. This one is fine, stop complaining.

I hope that's sarcasm

Sarcasm or not, it's still true.
Yes, this community is pretty bad. But at this point in the game's life, it's to be expected. Unlike CoD, we don't get a new game (expansion) once a year. The wait is longer, much longer. Thus, with little info to go on, people's patience wears thin after a while.
Imagine if Infinity Ward announced a new CoD after a couple years of complete silence, only to go silent once more until an undisclosed date. The whole internet would lag from all the rage messages being posted.
Lastly, I've been around the FC community for a while, since about when FC2 came out. I've heard it all at this point. People constantly complaining about either how bad or how small the community is.
People complaining like this is half of the problem!
Rather than point out glaring flaws, (as if everyone didn't know already) how about adding something constructive to the forums?
If not that, you could just avoid these places if you find them so terrible.
I hear you to a point. I don't really care about Predator Mode, but if someone wants to write a thread about it I'm fine with them doing so. I think the gist of my frustration actually comes from the repetitiveness / spamming of the same topics over and over again in threads. If I had a dollar for every person on this forum who brought up Predator Mode, Map Making, or Jack Carver, I'd have enough money to hire a team of programmers to make my own Far Cry game with those elements in them...
...but I can't really blame people for this. All of the things I mentioned above are part of the Far Cry series so its only natural for people to inquire about them.
All of this stems from the fact that we have hardly any knowledge about a game we all want to play and enjoy. With only about 10 screenshots and 10 minutes of dialog/game play footage, we're left to ponder the same things over and over again.
In my opinion, this forum doesn't suck because of the community or their knowledge (lack of) Far Cry. It sucks because we just don't have much to go off of. This forum is premature. You can't talk much about something when you have very little information about it. We're left to either speculate or make suggestions -- and if we make suggestions, moderators filter it to their Far Cry 3 Wish List.
There is at least three seperate communities within the FC series and Ubisoft isn't very good at communicating what they want to do further with the series. Over the past years Ubisoft has suggested that FC3 might take place in either Africa or Antartica. It wasn't until the seven minute footage from E3 that we received confirmation that FC3 was going back to tropical peradise. Still to this day they have not mentioned anything about the map editor or the multiplayer for FC3. FC2 had the class system. FCIP had weapons pickup and drop. There are countless threads arguing over which system FC3 should use.
Takes a deep breath and....
I was going to until I read some of the other opinions posted here, I think so long as folks can stay within the rules there is the potential for healthy debate here...Originally posted by JmanZ:

Agreed - See almost any of Lambchops posts for the way to add constructive debate.Originally posted by JmanZ:

For the other side, see how many threads are locked on the first two pages alone...
Agreed, imagine HAVING to read every one before you lock them...Originally posted by xIxNxSxAxNxEx:
I feel the same way. I think everything that could possible be considered was mentioned here on the forums at least five times. LOL
That's why i dont come here often anymore. All the topics are just getting too damn repetitive!
Fair point, I am not a Predator player, but it could be done per the Zombies comment.Originally posted by JmanZ:
The developers clearly stated that they aren't doing mutants this time around. (the game mode looked fun, but how would it fit with the story?
It is but what does that mean to people?Originally posted by JmanZ:
Some of this community seems to have no experience with Far cry or just the flow of it at all (I can't claim to be in this position however, as I have only played the second game) This isn't CoD, Battlefield or Halo.
Its Far Cry.
The FC2 fans played a VERY different game to the original, and even the early Xbox releases were different again.
There are worse communities, but that doesnt mean this one couldnt be better...Originally posted by legacyzero:

People can talk about predator mode but there is no need to spam multiple threads just to get it looked at.
Exactly... with such a long build up to release its inevitable. If the marketing plan follows other titles, that will change, but only when they are ready.Originally posted by Negrumir:

Q: What would happen if we didnt have a FC3 forum?Originally posted by Mr_Cataluchi:

A: We would have ALL the same posts cluttering up the FC2 forum instead (been there and done that with FC2 vs FC1)
They made a big splash at E3, but its clear that there is a long lead time to release, at least we know there is going to be an FC3 and we know its generic location, thats surely better than the years of speculation about sequels...?

You can see from the above that a number of the community recognise that there is too much repetition here.
The moderation team are treading the fine line of allowing debate while keeping things well ordered.
The "Please Read Before Posting" Sticky and associated "Community Discussion" Threads should provide a sufficient platform for you to express your wishlist and give the developers a few main threads to target if they visit here and they want to judge the mood of the community.
Will we always get it right in terms of what threads we leave open and which we close?
No, of course not, but we will always do our best to be fair and open about any decisions.
If any of you have any queries about this please PM me &/or one of the Forum Managers...

The locations you are talking about were speculation by members of the FC2 dev team in interviews they gave.
Which is again why we try to close them and get people to post the ideas or opinions in the dedicated threads. The information release schdule is typically a drip feed process where they build up excitement about features they want to talk about... ...once we get a ComDev they can take on the mantle of not being able to answer the questions until the time is rightOriginally posted by Johnnien: It wasn't until the seven minute footage from E3 that we received confirmation that FC3 was going back to tropical peradise. I hope that explains how we are trying to organise the forums; anything that helps cut down on the number of threads that get closed is a welcome change....
Cheers
Well, no offense, bud, but you can't be runnin' around guns a'blazin about how this isn't CoD, this is Far Cry, when you've only player Far Cry 2. What. The. Word that would get moderated?! Seriously, bro, if you're being that kind of a character you need to actually know what Far Cry is. No rubber enemies that won't die after ten deagle shots, not respawning bad guys at every check point and NOT STOP FOLLOWING your jeep, not AI that can locate you from a mile away with the naked eye, not hours of pointless driving to kill a few people in the bleak desert.Originally Posted by JmanZ Go to original post
Far Cry is a lush gameplay experience, clear water you can see through and use as a cover mechanic, smart AI, but smart to the proper extent. You don't play against God. A beautiful environment, cool stuff around each turn, an open world in which, truly, if you see something, you can get to it. THAT, my friend, is Far Cry. Number two was a disgrace to the name.
