I know a lot of people have reported difficulty with the side to side lunges. While I have not had difficulties myself I have made an observation that might be helpful to others. Yesterday I revisited a personnel training session that I had not done in a while and it contains the side to side lunges. When I started my set of lunges the trainer said, "Lunges should be a little lower" I didn't agree so I ignored her
As I continued all the small circles lite up green so I knew I was doing okay. At the end of the routine I received 100%. I repeated this process several times with the same result. So sometimes the trainer lies
that may be causing people to over correct and therefore causing frustration.
Now I will say that I do start the lunges with a very wide stance. The best way I can describe this stance is to say it's wide enough to do a successful warrior pose in the Zen Classes.

Another exercise where I have encountered something similar is the "Straight Leg Dead Lift." At the beginning of this exercise the trainer will tell me I need a narrower stance. I ignore her because I know my stance is narrow. Without my changing anything the trainer comes back with a cheerful, "That's right, that should feel better."
