You're probably already aware of this, but just in case, this Sunday's "War Stories", w/ Oliver North,on Fox News Channel {8pm ET) will be about the Tuskegee Airmen.
Heck, you'll probably know everybody on the show.

Hey, thanks. I put it together this afternoon as I was feeling inspired and not feeling so inspired to do any classwork. =)

Here's an animated image I put together for all four squadrons in the fightergroup as well:

I had a full sized version with much more involved and interesting animations, but it was about 2 megs.. (yikes!)

    (bump)

    @ El Turo.

I hope you have those at full screen size. They are excellent pictures/composites.

    Thanks! Glad you like them.

The first image is the largest size I have, based on the resolution of the pictures I could find of the fellas on the internet. I do have an animation at the full size, but the sucker is about 2 megs!

Bearcat, you want me to upload the BIG-BIG one, or the ones I have above in this thread?

Also: The small animated gif I have in this thread is about 500kb, the same gif without the fancy scrolling letter intro is only about 150kb.

The still image was composited using four parts:

    1) B&W photo of Tuskegee fellas
    2) Image of Flag
    3) Image of squadron insignia/patch
    4) Text

I took the black and white photo, cut out everything not in the foreground (sky, etc).

Put that cleaned up image on top of the flag image layer.

Put the squadron insignia/patch on top of that.

Applied an adjustment layer with the sepia-brown color and used the color blending mode.

Put text on top of the adjustment layer.

Screwed around with various edge filters but never really settled on one.

That's really all I did, promise!

    ---

As for the animated images, did that in imageready after creating/importing all the squadron insignias and text layers into the photoshop file. Basically, just moved them around on duplicated frames and tweened between them to get the motion and fade effects.
