I went to another story on the blog, some nonsense thread about Paris Hilton. There is my post, educating the masses about my politics, to the blank stares of a nation.
It is going to be one of those days.

It is going to be one of those days.
As we in the US all know, since 9/11, various groups and organizations have been put on a watch list of subversive and seditionist organizations.
While, I will admit, some of those groups are probably well worth being watched, others, IMO should not be.
I happen to be a member of one such group, AIM, the American Indian Movement, which, granted in the late sixties and early 70's had a nasty habit of being militant. However, since then, they have kept themselves at a more acceptable m.o. by lobbying congressman.
Recently, I had a visit from representitives of our state and local law enforcement agencies. It seems my collection of firearms raised some eyebrows in some computer somewhere, possibly becuase some were US military issue at one point.
So, to my suprise, at 8AM one monday morning, BEFORE my first cup of coffee mind you, there was a knock at my door and I found these individuals standing there.
"We would like to ask you some questions concerning some surplus military weapons."
I actually began to laugh so hard I nearly fell. Both men just looked at me blankly. I led them to my gun cabinet. Inside, in clear view, were the former US Army Issue weapons.....
Two civil war era rifles, one a Springfield rifled musket, the other a Zouve, one civil war era sharps breach loading carbine, one 1873 trapdoor rifle, and one 1873 trapdoor carbine. All authentic, all with the paperwork proving orgin and authenticity, and all very VERY obsolete.
I have been curious as to what the report said when it went back to whatever federal agency that requested the check......

jlf: you are obviously a malcontent. You fit the profile of the "middle aged white guy, who likes guns and reads gun magazines". The only part you're missing is the "viet-nam veteran" part of the profile. You need re-programming!! Too much sun and fresh air as a child, doing things like working on boats, riding horses and the like didn't allow you to addle your brain. It's obvious that you plan to take those weapons apart, measure all the components, and start building them "en-masse" in your basement and/or garage for the revolution you are planning. It's lucky for the citizens of our fine country that we were able to track you and stop you before major damage could occur. You need to go to a McDonalds, get a bunch of their burgers and fries, go home, turn on a video game or TV and don't go outside other than to get more McDonalds, this way you can fatten your brain and body at the same time and you will forget all about your evil plan.

Austin, TX Monday (ap) The ringleader, known only as jlf1961, of a movement to build mass quantities of single shot muzzle loading and cartridge type rifles and carbines was arrested at his home this morning in Austin. He refused to allow UN inspectors access to his home to search for these WMD.s This also had international connections to Manila and specifically to the SkyWalkerBar, a place known to be frequented by associates of Mr. jlf1961. Questioned in regards to his association were DBW, a zoomie who stated that he was not a part of the plan due to it being, "very difficult to load and fire a muzzle loader while flying at 680kts in an F16. Also questioned but released was pharmman17 AKA "the C/C who asked the officers, "which end of this claymore goes that-a-way?? Another person of interest is Lane2512 who is known to play "inagoddadavida" from his M60A1 tank. It is well known that playing this song backwards and at half speed the drum solo is actually morse code for "viva la revolution." Two other suspects, vietvettwo and MamaSon could not be located and are thought to have fled to South East Asia together, or maybe Las Vegas.

I do watch TV, primarily the history channal, and the various Discovery Network channals.
Finally, considering that the British developed this wonderful submachine gun in World War Two that was so simple in design, they could be mass produced in blacksmith shops, why in earth would I worry about pre 1900 weapons... with the possible exception of the gatling gun, but I would have it chambered in 45/170 buffalo bullets, since you never know when you might be attacked by a herd of hostile buffalo...
Now, as for the malcontent, hmm, yes, you could say that. But then, this is not the place to argue politics, religion, baseball, or hockey....
However, I will point out that the fact that they do not have more movies in which Jessica Alba, Ulma Thurman, Angelina Jolee, and a number of other rather attractive female entertainers do not appear nude for more than 3/4 of the movie is just WRONG.
