ok a few weeks ago GregSM told me how to include the last planes added to the game (like Spit IX, Lagg3 s29, 190A6 etc) in the Dyn campaigns to be flyable by the player, and thats great!

Now I'd like to know...is there a way to make these planes flyable by the AI in campaigns too?
I'd love to meet a squad of Ta152 over Berlin in my Yak 9UT

    Hi Luftcaca,

To add, for example, AI controlled Ta 152's to the Berlin campaign, open the file "Berlin.db" in the DGen folder and add "3 TA_152H1" to the "[Planes]" section, being careful to use the correct nomenclature (see the list I posted in your previous thread). The digit "3" defines a fraction of 300. So in this case, the Ta 152 will appear in your Berlin campaign at a nominal frequency of 1%. (In practise, I think, the frequency may be higher, as many campaigns feature a smallish pool of available Axis fighter types - and many missions will feature more than one of them.) Use this procedure to add any plane to any campaign.

Here's an updated MS Excel file detailing historical deployment of aircraft type and numbers for all available DGen campaigns:

    http://www.yogysoft.de/VEFII/pdt.htm

The format is the same as the .db files. That is, the numbers in the column to the left of the aircraft ID are fractions of 300.

And I'm decidedly more "awful" than "mighty"!

    Cheers,

    Greg

heh GreI have a few more questions!

    1. Is there some planes that CANNOT be included in the .db's? that yanno will make the campaign generator crash or something, like the Horten or the FloatPlanes?

    2. Do you think it could be possible to create flights of captured planes for the AI? Like a couple of Finnish Lagg3's?

    thx in advance

heh I have a couple more questions for you Greg

    1. Can I include ALL the planes in the campaigns for the AI or is there a few restrictions like for the Horten IX and Floatplanes etc.

    2. Is it possible to create flights of captured planes for the AI? it would be cool to meet Finnish Lagg3's for instance.

    Cheers

    Hi Luftcaca,

The seaplanes can only be used for Leningrad campaigns, and certain exotic machines like the Gotha will prevent all campaigns from starting.

See LOG files "DGen Error", "DGen", "DGen2", and "DGen3" in the root directory. These are diagnostic files that should identify the cause of campaign initialization failure.

    Cheers,

    Greg

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention that each plane is currently hardwired as either "Blue" or "Red", so LaGG's can't be assigned to Finnish units, for instance. However, I think Starshoy said recently on SimHQ (you may wish to search there to confirm) that he's considering ways of implementing this. Also, I think he said that the DGen version shipping with PF will enable seaplanes on FB maps, or at least the Kuban and Crimea.

Ok thats what I thought about red/blue colors assigned

you say Horten IX is an exotic plane, which is very true, is the 190Z also considered as an exotic plane?

    Hi Luftcaca,

I don't know specifically which planes DGen rejects. To find out, add the weirdo plane of your choice - 109Z, YP-80, etc. - to a campaign .db file. If the first mission generates, the campaign should progress correctly. If it fails, consult the .LOG files in the main directory to confirm it's indeed the plane type causing the hang-up.

    Cheers,

    Greg
