Yeah, whats this? I'm interested. Love the way RoF gets patches and hotfixes out so quick.Originally Posted by AndyJWest Go to original post
DoF - depth of field. I presume the entry in the config "post_enable_dof = 0" refers to this (and that it would only be available with post effects on). You know, the 'cinematic' effect where the background or foreground is blurred. Might be quite useful for screenies, but a potential p.i.t.a if you're trying to spot targets from a mile a way.
Edit: Examples of DoF in action.
RO2 Heroes of Stalingrad...
The Witcher 2...

As mooted, probablty better for FPS/RPG's, but might be interesting in RoF.
So I ran a little experiment...not much to report.
I'd initially convinced myself that 'DoF on' slightly blurred the appendagepit view (up yours Ubicensor). Pretty sure that was just placebo. It is my considered scientific opinion that 'post_enable_dof = 1' does bugger all...unless you groovers can spot something I didn't.

@LF, the DoF option was removed from the post process options quite early on in the sims development. It's still there in the config, but doesn't work anymore.
Yup, the screenshot entries were amazing.
LF, you have to give RoF online another try sometime, when you've tired of elf-bothering, or whatever it is you've been up to. You don't even need to be any good at dogfighting to have fun. I've been creating mayhem on the Syndicate server with a little high-level bombing. An enemy airfield is always a good standby if the main targets are destroyed. I go for the big bomb and four not-quite-so-big-but-still-very-noisy loadout:
Now, while my target was the hangers, rather than the planes, I'm not going to hang around while they take off:
Kerboom!
As someone pointed out on the RoF forum, this is what Nieuports generally tend to look like after landing - I've just saved the pilot a little time:
