Looking at the screenshots here I'm not sure I like the look of the pieces. Chessmaster for the GBA (which can also be played on the DS) has a more traditional looking 2d set which everyone is accustomed to. Anyone know if there is an option to change the look in the DS version? If not then I may have to stick with my old reliable GBA version.

Yeah, they look kinda, well....8-bit. I hope you have various display options. I mean, even the chess game on Clubhouse Games looks miles better than these graphics.

i agree, those pieces are atrocious, and i will simply not buy this game if that is the only available set.

I have the CHessmaster DS version and NO there are no options for changing the pieces, nor are there any (historical) games to explore and learn from.I DO feel however that the new tiwst they have given this version makes it worth the purchaces. There is so much more to do in the way of various TYPES of puzzles, practices and so forth, besides the regular game (which rates ELO). Two other complaints,no WIFI and very (extremely) generic interface.
Still worth the money, just the same. A definate improvement over the GBA version.
