Thought I would update you on my Tiger I project. Much progress has been made despite how little time I have to work with it. The chassis is now operational and is a blast to drive. Detail work on the upper deck is currently under way. Many custom parts have been used as well as some fabricated by me. I hope to have her finished in two more months. Then it will be time for the showdown with my neighbor's M4 Sherman. Still working on that 109 Pirsch?

    Scale: 1/16
Weight so far is 12 lbs.

    Custom parts used:

    From Elite Armor
    Scale metal tracks.
    Metal rear fenders.
    Metal sprocket guides.

    From Schumo of Germany
Metal S-mine assemblies complete with scale bolts and nuts.
Metal spare track holders that are fully functional.
Scale metal antenna with correct taper.
    Metal Eimer bucket.
    Scale aluminum barrel.
    Recoil unit gears.
    Metal hatch hinges.
    Metal tow shackles.
    Metal tow cables.
Metal tow cable hold down kit complete with hinges and wing nuts.

    From Arber of Poland
    Metal grills.

    Made by me:
Metal barrel cleaning rods from brass.
    Periscope glass made from lexan.

Radio is the Futaba Attack 4 channel.

The photos don't do it justice.

This reminds me of the Tamiya (1/35?)Tiger I built many years ago. I had it set up with a remote control (wires, not radio). It really got through the batteries though...and really only crawled along the floor- all you could expect I suppose. It was fun to build though. It's my favorite tank.
Nice pictures, will it be radio controlled?

This is like the one I built:

Fully radio controlled. Turrent rotation, barrel elevation, barrel recoil with flash and mg flash and sounds. Lots of power with this kit. I should know I accidentally shocked the daylights out of myself with it.

    It looks good dude.

I was thinking of starting a thread yesterday about modelling. But I´m not at the stage to ask for painting advice yet.

I came across this Revell 1:72 River Class Corvette "Snowberry". Not a bad kit but needs historical modifications. I decided, since it´s 85cm long, to make it a/c.

Should be interesting when it´s finished.

I'm already planning to build the King Tiger after this one. Unless my missus puts the brakes on it that is. I'm already on probation for this project.
I thought I had kicked the model building habit until I started playing IL-2. All those planes and tanks were just too much. A good airbrush such as the Badger 150 and a small compressor with a water trap are all that you need for a good paint job. I'm experimenting with MIG weathering powders at the moment. Just have a test subject to try you're ideas on first.

If you like ships check this out. Insane!

I did this T-34 for my buddy. It's a mostly prebuilt 1/16 R/C model. I repainted it and added weathering. If it was mine I would tear it down and rebuild it. It doesn't have a speed control so it runs flat out. Still not a bad model and it has lots of potential. I used it as a test subject for the MIG weathering powder and it worked out great. The stock finish was too plastic looking. You can get one on e-Bay for cheap.
