I just got this game the other day and I've patched it to 3.03 so I don't know if this has happened before but I was trying out a Mitsubishi Zero and just for kicks I leveled out the plane and bailed. The **** thing flew around in a circle while constantly and gradually gaining altitude and continued to fly like that for about 15 minutes, so I decided to record this behavior and I left it recording until it reached 6770m altitude at which time it stopped climbing but continued to fly in a slow circle and would have continued but I quit the mission. Is this a glitch? Anyone want to see the track?

I bailed out of an Oscar after being smoked by some F6Fs on an offline mission. That Oscar just kept on going and going and going....

I don't think it is a bug either. Basically, the Oscar in this situation was still stable, I just thought a few more hits from 6 .50s and I would blow up, so I bailed. Of course, the F6Fs quit attacking after I jumped. So the Oscar could fly happily along, minus the weight of the pilot and gear.

It happened during the war as well. Instances where a pilot would bail out of what seemed like a stricken aircraft only to have the records later report that it crashed a hundred KM away when the fuel finally ran out. Or where the pilot was killed but the plane continued on...once again, till the fuel ran out.

Actually read of one example of a B-17 flying all the way to england after the crew had bailed out, ran out of fuel, and came to rest in a field, essentially landing itself. The only real damage was when it hit trees and nearly sheared off a wing. And then there's "lady Be Good".... these things did really happen in RL, so the fact that they happen here, says good things about the sim, not vice versa.

i heard of a pilot got a b24 out of control, so i opened bomb doors and told crew to bail out over intercom.

intercom didnt work. crew where rather puzzled when pilot got up and jumped out, but got it under control and back to base

I guess the pilot was 'congratulated' when he returned... if he did...
