I disagree, between MFS 2002 and MFS 2004 there were some huge improvements, especially in graphics, real time weather, interactive air traffic control, the flight school that might actually help somebody, interactive virtual cockpits and these are just the things I can remember. It would stand to reason that the series would continue to be improved to the point that one would want the latest version.

I'll buy it when it goes down because paying 60.00 pound for a game that doesnt deliver the fololwing:

1. Detailed Landscape
2. Proper Airline Companies
3. The whole world might be good but nit for me.
4. Combat Aircraft (When you put one in it cant fire guns drop bombs etc)

I wil still buy it..... in a year

I heard from a guy on another forum (who beta tested for FS2004) that there was indeed development going on on FS2006 (or FS10 really). There was still no alpha version to test as of a couple months ago though.

I love FS2004, never boring. My only concern is being sure all my payware addons will work with a new version, since we can't be sure just how much MS will change things.

I do expect some big improvements in the next version. I saw some pics from the development of CFS4 (now canceled) that were really nice, and finished they'd have been even better. Autogen trees that looked much more real, and had better arrangement on the landscape. I'd like to see utilization of the Microsoft Speech system to aid in ATC control in the next version as well. Weather, some minor changes, mainly with blending on transitions between layers and systems. I'd also like to see gauge refresh rates doubled or tripled. I like the look and smoothness of some of the RealityXP payware gauges, MS needs to get on up to that smoothness level as default.

But as to the question asked, I don't think I've yet heard any solid word on a relase for FS2006.

Im being honest.

I got dared to buy FS2004 and i got to say with all these free aircraft its FAB.

Also its quite cheap now 20.00/10.00 pounds.

FS2006 wont see the light of day until at least 2006

M$ has been known to release games earlier. FS2004 has been released, late 2003 IIRC.

ANyways, with all the free downloadable add-on planes, cockpits, sounds and the overall open strucutre of this sim, the FS series can defenitly be a valuable gameplay experience for many years. However, it is essential to know how VOR, ADF and all the other aviation electronics work. I once flew from the east to the west coast, all on VOR!! not the g@y GPS. Now, that's a challenge. especially if you want to know where you are, all the time.

The last MSFS I owned was 98... That was THE sim that got me into simming. Afterwards I discovered the Fly! series and they were a lot more promising, but MS just has the market so that died... !!!!! Wish it had as much attention as MS. Anyway I know about VOR etc. Thanks for your guys' opinion.

I've got 20GB of MSFS goodness installed and another 10GB not installed. Really looking forward to the next version. Last rumour I heard was late summer/fall 2005 for FS10.
