Little of topic. Maybe, I dont know...

But why in the pacific campaigns do the pilots open up their canopies on take off and landing?

The Russian front campaigns dont have this. Is this something only the Navy did? Or was it just not coded into the russian campaigns?

Yup, the US Navy and Marines opened up their canopies whenever they were in the takeoff or Landing sequence for fast eggress just in case something went wrong. You can see this happen is real footage from WWII. <div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Only some of the newer planes have the ability to open the canopy. Predominantly the carrier planes.

The IL-2, FB and AEP planes were not designed to do this.

Yes, this is a quite new feature, it came with the Pacific Fighters release. The older planes don't have it.

You can also raise the seat - gives a better view for take off.

Assign a key for open cockpit as well as toggle seat position. It's in the control section of the game. Before then I thought changing the gunner seat was it. It never worked. I was wrong.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
