upgrading to W7 64bit is a good move as long as your hardware supports it.... not much point in going to W7 if you're running dx9 hardware

(To use the evr popular car analogy... you've souped up the engine and tuned it to run 98 octane... then go and run it on 91)
Win7 64bit offers far more than just DX10 / 11. For starters, more than approx 3.2GB maximum effective RAM use for any 32bit windows desktop operating system...plus lots of other stuff.

Your car analogy doesn't cut it. It would be more like souping up the car, upgrading the tyres, brakes, suspension, putting in multi-point fuel injection with a fully digitised multi sensor engine management system, a big sound system, new upholstery and paint and so forth, then running it on 91 octane. Sure you'd miss some of the potential power boost but it would use less fuel, handle better, brake better, be more confortable and enjoyable all round and almost certainly get you around more quickly than it did before the upgrade. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

all that is need is a 64bit owner/ driver and everything would be sweet

yes fair enough about the (OEM) parts I didn't include... but let's call them the DX9 hardware, yeah? and the DX10/11 stuff your inclusion </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I will give it a try later...

Hopefully this isn't just a stupid question(s) or asked & answered elsewhere.I'm new to Steam,& I downloaded game from JustFlight.I am having issues after I manually added the 3 beta patches, and thinking about starting back at square one before I do too much modifying. Is this wise & if so how?Next: does Steam install include the beta patches anyway,so forget manual install ( these patches did seem to help FPS,but stopped some other utilities from working...)When at last the sim is available in the US I assume there will be a large patch from Steam that comes with the first install,if so , will this automatically be installed in those of us with CloD already installed? Thanks!

    1. You can go back to official no problem, in Steam, right-click on CloD, choose Properties, on the Local Files tab click Verify Local Cache. That will check that the game is at the official install version, when it finds the files aren't right it will re-download only the patched files thus rolling back to official.

    2. Steam install does NOT include the beta patches.

    3. If you have Steam set to keep the game up to date automatically (the default setting) then when the big official patch comes out it will update it for you automatically.

A little tip about the beta patches, others pointed out this trick and it does seem to work. After applying a beta patch go to the Documents\1C Softclub\cache folder and delete all files inside and also delete the files inside the folder in the Cache folder. Seems to prevent some issues.

Did just as you said & all is in order ...I do have question about the cache folder:I eliminated all the files in it as you suggest,BUT there is a folder "shader"s in the cache folder -do I delete files her as well,or entire folder?
BTW After one successful mission I noe have a couple of new files in thecache flder...where did they come from...the past mission?
Even with slower than I'd like FPS I am falling in love with flying in this sim...even with all its flaws...

The cache folder loads files up for faster access, so as you play it will fill up. What seems to happen though is that the nature of these files are version specific so problems are caused if you have patch X files in the cache being loaded up in patch Y. As for the Shaders folder, what I read said don't delete the folder but do delete the contents of that folder. I don't think it will cause problems to delete the folder though as I have seen most since then say "clear out the cache folder" and no ones complained that things went bad cause they deleted the shader folder too, lol.

I also would like to know how to get the text off the screen as I can't find anything in either of the config.ini files.

Still how to tweak the config file would be good for me and I presume many others to fine tune their experience.[/QUOTE]
