    Ouch. bad luck James.

    Computer meltdown? what happened?
Are we talking hard drive crash or a computer failure?
If it isn't the hard drive your files could still be saved.

At M4T we have all aircraft available in easy to browse categories

    M4T Skins by aircraft type

and a section for skin packs

    Skinpacks

A few hundred to choose from, most are comparatively recent( 2 years or less), no login or membership required to download.

Other sites with a good Luftwaffe selection:

Cpt Farrel Large collection of skins by category
    Canons Skins
    Zargos Skin Factory

As you rebuild your collection I would recommend backing up to CD or DVD.

Long story ...but had to reboot C: due to glitch...I thought I had copied all skins to separate drive ...but again due to glitch somehow lost everything between B-17 & fockewulf...Tears don't help either ...many campaigns are now marking-less & skin-less....

That is exactly why I do never install data and games (and other hard to install software) to my C drive.

With TweakUI I even move My Documents etc. to another drive.

After a format C I can do a simple install and then copy the old version over it (I allways keep the drive and path the same).

Learned it the hard way when I had an unstable system several years ago. I hope this "trick" helps others as well.
It's really nice to be able to do a format C: without having to worry about E-mail, data etc.

By the time I write this , I have 4 x full DvDs l0aded with skins and IL-2 utils.

I don't know... but sure more than 5,000 skins alone... to count all the files well.....

I back up everything, and as serval says never on C: disk.

Also I regularly back up my Users and Missions folder (campaign back up) because they get screwed every once and while. Every ten missions or so and back up.

I'm sorry to hear that you have probs james, but listening to some of our advices will prevent them for the most part .

This is the reason that I partition my primary drive into three partitions:
    1. Boot, Windows, drivers, things that must go on C.
    2. Application software.
    3. Game software.

A separate hard drive has two partitions, one is a dedicated page file partition, the other is for storing videos, images, documents, and a full back up of the primary drive.

I'd back up to a DVD as well, but I don't have a DVD burner on my computer.
