IMO, if stock SH5 will require more than 2.5 GB of RAM and more that Nvidia 9600GT 512 ?b to run smoothly, that will result as commercial failure.

Silent Hunter 5 has been optimized to use less RAM than Silent Hunter 4. 2 GIGs of RAM will run SH5 perfectly well, as long as a decent processor and a mid range 512MB video card are also being used.

This sounds promising. I have 1GB of RAM and can run SH4 reasonably well. If SH5 can use less, then all the better! I just hope my Athlon 64 3500 and XFX nVidia 8600GT will be up to the challenge.

My rig (laptop) is 2.0 GHZ Core2 Duo with an Nvidia 9300m GS @ 256mb, running vista 64 (not my first choice). 4mb RAM. If SH5 will work on this machine, you've got a sale. If not, probably not.

Can I look forward to playing?

The Devs have only tested with 512MB and higher video cards. They are "trying" to make the game work with 256MB cards at low settings.

Matters not to me. I need to replace my entire 2002 Dell system anyway, and the actual release of SH5 will be the time to do so. Might as well get one of the newest and greatest 40 nm 1024MB video cards that support DirectX 11 so I can keep playing the new games through at least 2012.

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me, raptor.

BTW, Welcome to the SH Forums.

i run silent hunter 4 complete on a system that has a quad core processor and a 512mb graphics card and another 4 in ram and when downloading or running another application at the same time as playing the game it crashed or freezed up every time. this pc has been made for games that require high resorces. so what will happen if this new one needs an even greater amount of resources. silent hunter 5 looks good, but its also got to be able to play great. without freezeing up or crashing all together

Hello and welcome to the forum...it sounds like you have a problem there...it would prove helpful if you post the specs of your computer and people here may be able to help you run the game without it crashing.
