an early ancestor of todays hard shelled sea creatures

Yep thought the same. Maybe they are related.

But Trilobites were rather flat animals while this thing is fat

That sea scorpion was much closer related to Trilobites.......but still 100 times bigger

Sad that they just found a claw. The whole thing would be a mega attraction for a museum.

Hmmm...maybe they could attach a mock-up to that stone plate with the claw to illustrate its size better. That would be spooky

It would become the living anti-christ for all creationists

    Evolution strikes back ! .... Boooooh !

and WOW....first ive heard of a sea scorpion...sound like a nightmare scenario.....can you imagine the size of the sting on it? Or the VOLATILE poison it must have to combat the very tough sea creatures, many of which develop immunities to poinson several generations on...so...the poison of this 'sea-scorpion' must have been very strong..

    This is actually true

The Monty Python gang proofs this.

    French knight :

"I fart into the general direction of your silly Arthur King you english kannnnnniigitts"

"Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries"

"Now go away you english son of a window dresser or i will taunt you a second time"

    @ Nimitz

It didnt had a sting but still belonged to the scorpion family.

Some quick googling revealed the following:

That 'bug' is a member of the Order Isopoda. Basically a giant marine "rollie-pollie", or as my friends and I like to call them "pockie-joes".
