How does ASRock's build quality and durability stand up these days?
I purchased an ASRock M/B a few years ago and was highly disappointed with its quality, as it broke down(forgot the reason why now) in 6 months, I recieved a replacement and that was suspect as well so with this experience I put them in the forget file.

My only experience with an ASRock was that it was very cheap but NO overclocker.
Its buggin the heck outta me trying to Google that motherboard from a former budget maker who had FSB world record at one point ...A friend had one and it was a super overclocked...

Id seriously consider one of these Biostar TP45s if overclocking was your target for skt 775 -probably even over my Asus Maximus 2 Formula ...

Sorry OP I reaslise youre after a newer mobo socket...Do Biostar do a 1366/1156 board? Is it as good as the TP45 was?

Overclocking is actually not one of my priorities. Each time I have tried it with other boards, I usually wind up with issues. What appealed to me about the Asus Rampage Extreme boards was the ability to dial in the speed and have the board adjust voltage etc.

I will most likely settle on this board: GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD7 AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 XL ATX AMD Motherboard

It has excellent reviews and with Sata 3 and USB 3 it is right up to date. It is priced at $249 here in Canukastan.

Would appreciate opinions on RAM. I have always had good luck with OCZ and thought this might be good: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/P...Item=N82E16820227415

EVGA makes great motherboards and their customer service and warranties can't be beat. As for RAM, I've always been partial to G.Skill, NEVER had a any of their RAM go bad or under-perform.

I would wait if you can, lots of new stuff coming out at xmas from intel and AMD 1st/2nd quarter 2011. Even if you still decide to go with what you have listed it will be considerably cheaper after the release of the new stuff. I personally am waiting to see what the new AMD high end CPU's will be like, they are a completely new chip design and not a K8 revamp. They are due out in 6 months just in time for SOW and will probably be compatable with your 890 mobo, but please check.
