    Hi ALL,

I'm 40, smoke 2 packs a day, weigh 330 lbs, and reciently started to look for investors for a business I want to start.

Well I found an investor but he said if he is going to invest over 100k into my company I'd have to loose weight and quit smoking as he didnt want to get into a partnership with somebody he worried could fall over from a heart attack at any minute.

I bought yourshape yesterday, today I'm having my last blast, tomorrow I start this routine and quit everything non-healthy.

Normally I would believe an idea to change everything about my lifestyle in three days is an action bound to fail...

but I got a 100k check floating over my head along with my dream job of owning my own specialty business.

So tomorrow its off to the xbox races, could really use some help and support as I get started plus any suggestions for quitting smoking sites or e-groups.

Thanks all and wish me luck...

If it helps you at all i quit smoking, changed my diet all at the same time. I haven't had a smoke in 3 years now (smoked for 15 years).

Smoking....nicoreete helped me a lot. Other than that i didn't do much except think of myself as a non smoker rather than a quitting smoker. After the first little while quitting smoking is really a mental thing to overcome rather than the shakes you'd get from quitting 'other things'. It's getting rid of habits like having that smoke after dinner or when you go out drinking.

Good luck hope it all works out!

    Yes, good luck Mr C!
I don't want to sound negative here (I admire your determination) but have you talked to your doctor about your quest? Being a 330lb EX-smoker you are going to see some great results using YS but... don't overdo it! Ease yourself into this, drink lots of water, get lots of rest, eat good food. I'm telling you man, you are going to succeed big time. My tip - Dannon Greek yogurt for right after workout. 12g (25% daily) protein and it's fat free.
    Keep posting!

Cutting 2 packs a day to 0 packs and working out... is gonna be hard.
Be careful your lungs don't fall out... watch your temper, you're probably gonna want to kill 1/2 of the world.
And be careful, fridge is gonna be welcoming you instead of cigs, more & more...

thanks all for steppin up.... well confession time, I work in the medical marijuana industry and I do lots of volunteer work in activism. I've never really used more than a pinch or two before bed, I really dont like the smell or taste. but I read this...

    _____________
    West Coast Leaf
Medical marijuana may help people quit tobacco
    By Jennifer Janichek, MA

When people quit or try to quit cigarettes, cigars, or chewing tobacco, they are hit with cravings and powerful withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, interruption of sleep and eating habits, irritability, tension, stress and the desire for a break, for routines, and for comfort.

Considering the misery of quitting tobacco, a short-term cannabis replacement may make sense for certain individuals trying to change their behavior. Cannabis can provide them with feelings of relaxation. Users report that it helps reduce stress and improves mood, can help with sleep issues and irritability, and may reduce the thoughts that lead to cravings.

In addition, the act of consumption — the behavior ‘ritual’ of holding or rolling a tobacco cigarette — can be replaced with a much less harmful substance.

There are plenty of anecdotes of people using cannabis to help them reduce or quit the use of tobacco. One patient reports, “I used low-grade pot to help me when I got an urge. I found that if I took a hit or two off a joint it really helped with cravings.” Another states, “I ate a cannabis edible every morning and early evening and that really helped me quit.”

Patient descriptions highlight various strategies such as, “I bought a bag of shake and chained-smoked cannabis instead of cigarettes. After a week, it got old and I cut way down on the cannabis. It especially helped me to get through the first cranky week of quitting.” Or, “At first I would use a one-hitter that looked just like a cigarette to smoke cannabis whenever I craved a cigarette. After a few weeks, just holding the one-hitter in my mouth and hand and acting like I was going to smoke helped. The thing I liked about the one-hitter is that I used less cannabis than a joint, so it was more feasible for me to use it more frequently.”

Medical-cannabis patients can enroll in a clinical service that utilizes the therapeutic benefits of cannabis and combines harm-reduction strategies, peer support, one-on-one counseling, cognitive- behavioral techniques, and skill building. This service is now available in Oakland and San Jose at Harborside Health Center.

So I dont plan on chain smoking J's (though that sounds interesting) but first thing I did this morning is something I havent done since my first college apartment... I'm feelin not so stressed now.. ok with everything, I still want to smoke ciggs, pretty bad, (I get the impulse to go outside from time to time) but im not like angry or obsessing on it the way I was when I tried to quit in the past, at least not yet. and I'm listening to marley "Dont worry bout a thing, cause, everthing's gonna be alright." just keepin my thoughts in the here and now, sort of...
so, I have now survived the first hour and a half or so without my morning 4+ ciggs. ;-)

"the behavior ‘ritual’ of holding or rolling a tobacco cigarette — can be replaced with a much less harmful substance"

Just focus on excercise, eating well and feeling positive about yourself you will not feel the need to smoke joints to help with stress. Excercise is still 100% legal in all 50 states as far as I know. Take pride in yourself that you do not need ANY substance to keep your #*!# together! Human determination and resolve is free too - weed costs money.

Good luck, man... sounds like you've got a lot riding on this.

I'm not a doctor, but I'll say that guys in general have done well by dropping weight with the Atkins regime... High-protein (all the pepperoni, beef jerky, pork rinds, cheese you want), low-carb (ditch anything with flour or sugar--harder than it sounds). Quick results that way, though it can all come back just as quick if you fall off the wagon.

I wouldn't look at this as a "health nightmare"; that becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. Try to focus on the positive. I know when I quit smoking 14 years ago, the first positive I noticed was that I suddenly seemed to have a LOT more money

And try not to be too hard on yourself. One slip doesn't mean you're doomed. And you might have lots of slips, especially since you're doing this for what is really an "external" motivator.

    Good luck!
