Excuse me for interuptin a possible topick here, i have been reading this post and now i'm wondering something. I just got myselve a brand new desktop about a month ago, becouse i could not play sh4 on my old one. Acording to the shop manager the computer i bought was a pretty good ways ahead or it's time, still when playing SH4 i cant but help notice the game is still pretty jumpy, and goes realy bad when i speed up the time compression. I'm not sure if it's the procesor memory or vidio card but since i saw quite a fiew people know a thing or two about computers and silen hunter 4 i was hoping maby someone could help me out with some information as wel. I don't know mutch about computers or how to check the performance of them, but here is the information i do have on it.

    Intel core 2 Quad Q6600
    2 GB DDRII RAM
    SuperMulti Optical
nVidia GeForce 8500GT 256MB Vidio card
    Intergrated Audio
    Bios R01-A2

I pretty mutch don't have a clue what this all means but aparently all of it is pretty fancy, but if so,... I'm still wondering why i have to set my nVidia settings to max performance ot be able to play without the jumpy screenplay. And it does get jumpy when i compress the time by over 1000x.

I hope i'm not off-topic, if i am let me know and i'll delete this post. If not i hope someone can tell me how to improve on my graphics. I spent quite some mony on being able to play this game and i realy am glad to be able to play it, but now that i can i was hoping to get is down perfect, and aparently this is still not the case.. Anyway thank you for reading my post.

From the specs you've given, Whisperer, I'd say that its not your processor or the memory. The quad core q6600 is a great processor and two gigs of memory is a must to play SHIV. The two things that jump out at me is the words SuperMulti Optical and Integrated Audio. It makes me think that both you're sound and video card are part of the motherboard. If that is the case, that could be causing your problems. Would you be able to provide a link to a description of your new computer so I could take a look at it? For the moment, try backing off your video card settings and see if it improves your performance. One other thing you might try is posting a copy of the settings your using at the moment. A simple change here or there might make a world of difference.

This is one of the link's i found in English, i don't know it this is what you ment but i hope it is, hope you can tell me why the graphic quality, is so limited eventhou the pc is just new and "top notch" , acording to the sales man.

As for graphic settings i''ve downloaded the latest nVidia drive for my vidio card, and to prevent the game from getting to choppy i've set the graphic's to maximum performance. Althou this is not to wishful cince i take a lot of screen pictures and realy would like to have some high quality eye candy as well.

What i did notice is that the frame rate or the choppy graphic's have increased after installing the add-on...

Guess someone in sabotaging my atempts on me joing The picture competition of March.

The 8500 graghics card is no high end gaming card, could be that if your trying to run with higher specs.
You could also check through device manager how much ram your using and how many background applications are running.
Running a check for spyware might help too.

@tambor, ddr3 is very expencive, you might be better off saving money on that and get 4 gig of ddr2 which is dirt cheap, you could also then save alot from buying a compatable ddr3 board too.
Why would you get the latest ddr3 compatible board for 'future proofing' when it's not got PCIe 2.0 compatible slot too?
If you do want the ddr3 mem and board you could prob find many cheaper ones than that with a PCIe 2.0 slot aswell. But i wouldn't bother.

Even 620 watts is a little overkill for 1 graghics card, 520 or 550W would be more than enough to run your system comfortably unless you go for sli.

    Just my 2 cents

I've been debating this DDR2-DDR3 issue myself for a couple of months now and still have not been able to decide which way to go. I've been leaning toward the DDR3 more lately just because to my way of thinking it would feel more like I've made a major upgrade. If I just want to get four gigs of DDR2 memory I would stay with what I've got now and not worry about the rest. I have one very bad fault when it comes to upgrading my computer, I never let the thought of what the upgrades cost bother me all that much.

Thanks for the imput though, appreciate it.

Just an idle thought, Whisperer. What do you have the refresh rate set at for your monitor?

My refresh rate is 72 Hz, why, is it to high?
Sure hope not, but let me check on 60 Hz, see if that makes a diference. Good tip by the way, did not think of that yet.

But like i already said on an other post, you can tell me anything about computers, and i'll eat it like sweet cake.

I don't know if your running an LCD or a CRT monitor, but if it is a LCD you need to match the refresh rate to that of your monitor. Also set the resolution at the native resolution for your monitor.
