I think there were old topics about this but here I go with another one .

I would like to see what are your genre favorites?
    Mine would be;
    District 9
    Avatar
    Children of Men
    Grindhouse
    Sunshine
    Cloverfield
The Day the Earth Stood Still
    28 Days Later
    28 Weeks Later
    Solaris

    ...for a start.

What titles do you find good?

    Moon.

I didn't care for Children of Men, Avatar, Cloverfield, Day the Earth Stood Still, or the 28 Days sequel. Sunshine is pretty underrated, but I think it's a solid flick.

Of course, we're forgetting the King-Daddy of them all: 2001.

Children of Men was great. One of the genuinely scariest movies I've ever seen, and it's not really a horror movie, just really portentious and heavy without being full of itself.

Moon is great, I watched it and forgot to put it on my list .
    Awesome movie.

In some twisted way, ending of Moon kinda reminds me of AI Artificial Intelligence ... movie which I haven't properly digested although I don't think it is a bad movie.

You need to see The Road.

It's a great movie. It wasn't commercially successful, though. It's far too dark for most people. Don't go in expecting something on the order of Children of Men--that's basically a light-hearted comedy when compared to The Road.

thumbs up on 28 days. good soundtrack also. never liked avatar. they should have called it "dances with wolves goes to space" essentially the same story. miltary man sent on mission against local population, falls in love, switches sides, big fight enues.

    exorcist still freaks me out.

I really didn't like Moon much, it had a few decent moments but everything it did has been done in other movies or TV shows and in some ways it felt rather rushed and low budget. Battlestar Galactica and Blade Runner come to mind as having similar themes and which were a lot more enjoyable for me. AI was just...awful.

I dunno if I could stand to watch The Road, truly scary movies can really get to me.

I'll try and come up with a list of good sci-fi movies later on...though apparently my home pc is dead (come help me in the community help section if you can!!!!!!!! ) so I dunno if I can.

It's not so much "scary" as it is extremely dark.

Although it does have one of the most legitimately disturbing scenes of any movie in recent history. And part of the reason it's so disturbing is because it's so understated.

    I'd definitely check it out.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/

Probably the best movie I saw last year.
