(Expansion of prior reply to another discussion)
Hello all...Wanted to post this and get some of your hopes and wishes for Far Cry 2. Obviously, we all want great graphics, great story, etc., but in this discussion, I was wondering what specific 'wishes' you hope find their way into the game beyond the obvious...maybe they will if Ubi is listening...I will get it started with a few.
* Radio stations in the vehicles playing music of the time (whatever time FC2 is set in), 'news' from the game (Yesterday, a fuel depot mysteriously exploded'), African music, etc. Considering how big the world is, I think this is needed to pass time from area to area. Grand Theft Auto does a great job of this and really adds to game.
* Saving weapons/equipment at camp. It would be great if you could stockpile weapons for use in different missions, especially if you are limited on what you can hold. Considering how much they are going for the 'real' feel, I assume number of weapons held will be limited.
* Non-enemy NPCs in towns and world. I love FPSs, but one thing I hate is the lack of NPCs. I hope that non-enemy NPCs are around and are part of the world. Would kind of stink if everyone is enemy and everywhere you go you are going to be under attack.
* Mini side missions not part of overall goal.
* Money/Commerce system. Based on PC Gamer mag article, sounds like there will be a diamond-based pay system, but not sure if this 100%
* Weather is NOT based on how well you are doing (as has been reported), but rather random. More realistic. A little cinematic tinkering is fine for certain battles, but not tied to gameplay.
* Saved effects to environment. This is probably a stretch due to how big the world is and how much is already in it, but it would be great if your actions on the world are saved. If blow up camp, it stays busted up until fixed. If burn a whole field, that it stays burned for some time. I hate all FPS that show damage to environment, but it is 'magically' fixed by time you return.
Enough from me for now. What other wishes do you have or what do you think of mine?
Im more of a multi-Player kinda of gamer... I mianly only buy Multiplayer based games. So im just hoping this game still has FCE&FCP Great MultiPlayer gameplay.
I played FCE For months with out getting bord.. Which is mainly to do with Map Maker, Since you would hardly ever play 1 map twice.. So it kept the game Fresh and interesting.
So i would like to see Map Maker Greatly improved.
- Doors ( I would love to see Operational doors in Map Maker, Since it would really change the way the map is played, Since players may have to find a key to unlock the door to pass through it)
- Greater Controll Over what weapons people start with, Since on the Old Far Cry, you could either set all the weapons on the map to Explosive or Pistols.. But could never change what people started with.
- Lots more Placable Items in map maker.
- Fliud oBjects to place outside the map, So you wont just have a Invisable wall and a cliff leading to water on the edge of a map.
- Un-Stick Key.. Since you get quite alot of people who use map maker and leave alot of holes in there maps where players get stuck and cant move for the rest of the game, So maybe a Un-Stick key... Which takes 20 Seconds to activate since.. Other wise players would just be pressing it to save them selfs from dieing.
A few more...
* Epic battles: With such a large playing area, I hope we see some epic battles with a huge number of enemies/friendlies fighting at one time. Sort of Battlefield game-esque.
* Pretty obvious, but...binoculars for scouting out the area
* Ability to climb to top of mountain (supposedly there is one large one). Random I know, but it will be a great view before you die of hyperthermia.
* Ability to buy modifications to weapons (silencers, scopes, launchers, etc.) Crysis (I know, swear word) is doing this and this feature seems pretty slick and beneficial.
Well, those are a few more...
Ability to penetrate all sort of materials, like wood/steel/concrete. It should look like in Call of Duty 4, but not at all, because in some cases[like thick wall] bullets are haven't had enough energy to do this, and that's the problem of CoD4[also the shotgun pellets, that penetrate thick concrete wall]. I think that there won't be that problems in Far Cry , and you will do a good penetration model.
And a few more...
* In the demos, they say there are going to be some amazing car chases, which I am looking forward to. However, I hope that you will be able to shoot your weapon as you are driving when the vehicle is not mounted with a gun. (ex: looking sidways and firing). If not, the enemy will have a field day picking you off.
* Car refueling/repairs: Supposedly, vehicles will realistically be damaged, break down, and run out of gas (last one is a ?). If so, I hope that we can refuel and/or fix the vehicles. Considering this will not be in some big city like GTA with a million cars that you can go hop in, I am concerned that if your vehicle breaks down and you cannot do anything about it, then you might be out of luck and without a vehicle for awhile. And 50 sq/km is a BIG place to be walking around without frequent vehicles.
* With the AI so aggressive (a very good thing), I hope you can still use your sniper rifle from far distance and not automatically be found. In the demo, it looks like it took two shots and they were all over you. Not sure if this was because he was visible or just the aggressive AI. I hope the enemy only comes after you when they know exactly where you are and not 'magically' know. FC1 did a good job of this...when they could not see you, they looked for you. Hopefully though in FC2, they are not dumb enough to stay out in the open when getting sniped. From what I saw in the demo, it seems like they are much smarter and do grab cover.
Game saving is a big one. Even though I liked the challenge of FC1 and objective saving, it will not work in open world. Let's say you do all this exploring, weapon purchasing, etc and then decide to do the next objective and die, then you would have to repeat everything including the objective.
Instead it will have to be like GTA. GTA used property purchasing as a clever way to hide the fact that these 'houses' were elaborate save locations. My guess is they will use all the different avatar camps as save locations. I hope this is true because I think that would be cool. And with 12 or so avatars, that would really provide some coverage across the map. Maybe add in some save locations in a few towns as well. 50 sq/km is a big area!
Also, it might be cool if you start the game wherever your avatar's camp is. This means different avatar choices will lead to different starting locations. Talk about different game each time.
*Xbox360/I do wish they put this game on 360 i must admit i loved farcry instincts predator for 360 its multiplayer and its map editor so plz ubi put it on 360 aswell.
*Wildlife/Now this idea might not be kool to some ppl but i would think it would be fun as putting some wildlife into it like when u want to do somethin to do you could go and shoot or hunt down zebras and antelope and maybe when when u run into a lion it would knock u over and u dropped ur weapons except from ur cleaver and u had to press a combination to attack it if not it would slaughter you. because hey it is africa it would be better to see some animals in africa.
*Main character/ Now i have heard that they have taking out Bad *** Jack Carver so i wish they put the new main character with the same attitude as him.
*VehiclesRepairs/Now i would like the fact of repairing your vehicle like having a tool kit in the the back of some vehicles and to repair it u would have to pull out the tools you would need and it would take time but you would have to push buttons to fix it or something.
*Vehicles/I wish they put something like some motorcycles and quads and dune buggys so u could do flips and rolls over hills and mountains.
*Hydration/it would also be realistic maybe every now and again to keep your guy hydrated like a bar or sumfin and if you didnt your guy would start seeing things like seeing enemys that arent actually there now that would be amazing.
I hope they put at least two of these mainly the xbox and whatever they choose but thnx for reading.![]()
After reading an article in Games for windows I'm looking forward to the African plains, and no scientifically created monsters! What I would like to see are real world animals behaving naturally in a wide open expansive area, because whats the point of playing in Africa if you cant play in Africa?
And I know its a far cry from happening but can I pick up an enemy radio to see what their up to? Map coordinates being sent, intel on their positions, things of that nature.
