My trusty X-45 died on me.. as some of you know I had modified it:

after using it like this for years:

I used the stick solely as a button bay. My original modded X-45 took a dive on me.. I managed to get a used one from a squaddie of mine a few years back when he upgraded to an X-52 because the stick pots died.. but since I didn't use them it wasn't an issue for me and using that I was able to salvage my now dead stick for a few more years, but the main board on the one I have now also took a dive (It wont even calibrate or even communicate with my PC except for the USB connect "ding") and since X-45s are very hard to come by now I will have to upgrade. I will use my Reward Zone points to get a new X-52 at Best Buy. I'd like to mod that one too eventually but I don't want to do it cold on my working stick based on past experience. If anyone has a X-52 that doesn't work but they still have laying around let me know. I can use it as an experiment in stick disembowelment. Even if it is just the stick, which will be all that I will be modding. I would like to take it apart to see how it is built so I can modify the one I am getting today like I did my original one.

When I modified my first one I had an old beat up one that was broken in the local Best Buy that I used to work in to use before I started taking my good one apart.. It helped me a lot in not screwing up the stick when I did mod it.

Find an ad showing the $60 price and get the difference back, they should give it back, or you can take your business elsewhere, lol.

    Hi BC,
The x52 throttle is usb connection so you won't need to modify the stick at all unless you want the extra buttons. Wouldn't have thought you'd need that many flying p51's? Me A 109 driver btw.

    So i have three questions:

    1. Can you use the x52 throttle without the stick?

    2. Can you modify the x45 to not use the stick and just rewire to pass through to USB?

    3. Bearcat, Have you modified your x52 yet and how did it go?
