Hi guys, i know this is the wrong forum but ive been to atleast another five Modern Warfare 2 forums without any replies whatsoever. This is like the only dedicated and helpful forum ive ever seen. So if its alright with you id appreciate the help.

Ok, so i have a Logitech Vantage headset as listed here:

    http://www.logitech.com/index....evices/3228&cl=gb,en

And i bought MW2, so i set up my mic i configure it in steam and i also test it out with my vista recorder.Everything Works. So can anybody explain to me why my headset will not give me any output of other players. I hear nothing from them i did not mute them, i checked that 20 times. MY headset is not broken, i had a conversation with my buddy on my mic on a steam chat and he heard me fine and i also heard him fine.

I tested it out at the MW2 settings, you see the sound meter go left and right as i said something. IT works. I need to know if theres some different settings i can go to in steam or MW2 where my mic settings will be displayed. They hear me when i speak, i dont hear them.

This may also help, this is what the MW2 Voice settings look like:

You can also see the level indicator halfway as i speak, thats where i get lost.My teamates can hear me fine, but i cannot hear anything whatsoever from them.I also have a suspicion that it may be the game and not me.

    Extra Info:

Vista Home Premium 64 Bit Edition
The Mic works in Teamspeak and several other programs/games.

I am very thankful for any help i get.

    Thanks,

Sounds to me like the MW2 comms output is being directed to a different sound device than your headset.
Your headset is a USB one, so it acts as a separate sound device, next to the sound card your speakers are connected to.

Why would you call this a 'mic problem' anyways?
Your microphone is working fine, people can hear you, can't they?

You need to figure out to which device the coms output are being directed.
Take a look at the 'Audio' options in MW2. If there's nothing on the subject in there, then check the Windows settings for the Headset. Maybe something's amiss in there?

(Could be that it's set to direct to your on-board sound card? To which nothing is connected, as you are using a dedicated sound card for speakers? just guessing here...)

    Good Luck!

    2 things just happened:

Good News it works great now thanks to you!

Bad news, the sound for the music and gunshots everything can be also heard through my earphones instead of my 5.1 speaker system. Like my computer asked me to select the device and i choose my headset it works but like at a price.

    This might help:

Looks like you've set the Default playback device to your Headset now.

Better switch it back to the 5.1 Speakers.

Then goto the in game Sound options screen, and check the settings in there, maybe post a screen shot of that...

what do you mean by sound options your gonna have to be more specific. like the sound options for the 5.1 speakers?

That second image you posted, it shows the 'Voice' options screen in game.
Show us the 'Audio' Options screen from there...

I was looking for an option in there, to have the game send the Audio for the comms playback to a different sound device.
But, it's not there, so, you are right, the solution is not in there.

I'm not even sure there is a solution.

Do you now of others that have a successful implementation for this setup?
I mean, Game Audio via the Speakers, and comms via USB Headset?

I'm afraid it's a too game dependent issue for us here to help you find a solution.
But, maybe others can jump in ...
