I apologize if this has already been posted on this forum, I have searched but not found anything yet. I would be grateful if you could help me.
I was busy attacking a convoy, had already sunk a C2 and two T2 Tankers.
Then i got a blue screen:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
BAD_POOL_HEADER
The next two paragraphs are just on what u must do if this is the first time this has happened, blah, blah, blah.
Technical information
STOP: 0x00000019 (0x00000020, 0x82F75000, 0x82F75410, 0x0A2800000)
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete
I then had to reboot my computer manually, since I unticked the option of auto-rebooting.
This has been the second time in two days that I got this message.
What does this mean and how can I fix this?
My system specs:
AMD AThlon XP 2000+
512 DDR 400
Nvidia GeForce FX5900XT
Windows XP Pro SP2
Onboard Sound (AC97)
Thank you very much for your help.

You have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed?
It might be a faulty driver causing it.
Or it might be heat.
Or a faulty RAM module.
Or maybe even a stray neutrino struck the core of your CPU.
You just don't know.
What did you do just before you started getting this error?
Try running Windows Update and install any device driver available.
Then update the video card driver, and maybe also the sound card driver.

Yes I do have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.
I'm am pretty certain it cannot be the RAM, because I only get a blue screen in SH3, and not in any of my other games.
I have run Windows Update and installes everything I could find.
I have also update my video card drivers.
Unfortunately I cannot update my soundcard drivers since they give a buzzing noise whenever SH3 is loading. Megarom Interactive, the distributor of SH3 in South Africa, told me this is a known issue and that I should use the old drivers.
I will see if I get another blue screen.
Thank you

Usually these kind of un-informative errors can be resolved by undoing what was last done to the computer. Either that or something unexpectedly broke down. I had a video card 6 years ago that spontaneously stopped functioning properly.
If you're routined enough, you can rearrange the PCI cards or perhaps remove them and insert them one by one until the error appears again.

Actually, if you goto the windows support site, they have a list of " stop errors " and you can get a more detailed info of what the problem is.
If your getting a blue screen error, though, most likely a divice failure, or drivers for said device have corrupted.

I had this kind of error with a BSOD in SH3 only after the upgrade with 1.3 patch, until i uninstall the Nvidia NForce 5.10 drivers for the chipset of my motherboard.
I had downloaded the past drivers 4.27 and all works fine now...
I use the latest Nvidia video drivers without problems

Hi!
I have installed the latest nVidia drivers and also older soundcard drivers.
I have played for about 1 hour and 30 minutes without any problems. It most probably was a driver problem.
Thank you all for your help.
I really appreciate it.
Now, back to Silent Hunter 3.

Hi!
I got another blue screen after playing for only 5 minutes.
This time i got a different stop message:
BAD POOL HEADER
STOP: 0x00000019 (0x00000020, 082DE1778, 0x082DE18B8, 0x0A28002F)
I have searched the microsoft support site but I could not find a solution for this specific blue screen.
Your help is appreciated.
Thank You.

Can you borrow a normal audio card from someone, install it and see if the problem disappears?
UPDATE: Look at this newsgroup thread. Do you have Alchohol or similar burn software installed on your system?

Unforetunatley I know no one from whom I can borrow a sound card . But I will see what I can do.
The only burning software I have is Ahead Nero for my CD Writer
