Yes, that's the link I was referring to.

Getting a ride in a Spitfire trainer would truly be awesome...but, if it is also a Mk. VIII.....oh my....um, with all this excitement I have to run to the loo for a sec.....brb.

Now, where did I put those tweezers and magnifying glass?!?

Well, if you are going to visit Holland there aren't that may aircraft-related museums around. The best ones are the Aviodrome http://www.aviodrome.nl/english/
where you can also book a sight-seeing flight. What about a splash-and-go in a Catalina!! It will set you back a couple of bucks but i'm sure it will we the worth the thrill!

The other aircraft museum is the Dutch military airforce museum http://www.militaireluchtvaartmuseum.nl/index.html
I don't think there is an English translation on this site. If you need any help let me know.

    Best regards,
    Patrick

    Oh my GOD!!!

Read the History of this MkVb :

AB910 - Mk.Vb Battle of Britain Memorial Flight,
    RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, UK.
Built a Castle Bromwich in 1941 and delivered to 222 sqn on August 22nd that year at North Weald. It subsequently served with 130 Sqn, 133 (Eagle) Sqn at Biggin Hill, 242 Sqn, 416 Sqn (RCAF), no 3501 Support Unit, 402 Sqn (RCAF), 53 OTU at Hibaldstow (famously took-off with WAAF ground-crew fitter(Margaret) on the tail & landed one circuit later with her still clinging to the tail.)

    LOL!

    Hi,

Going from memory here but I think that the only 2 seat Spitfire available for hire in the UK is the 'Grace' Spit mentioned in one of the links.

The first problem is that I think its booked ahead for at least the next year. The second problem is that it costs about $4k for a flight.

The pilot does not have a CPL so flights are not profit making but cover running costs.

    Best Regards,
    MB_Avro.

This one was in western New York back in July and was most definitely a fly-in, as nothing that rare would be based at Geneseo. Maybe you can track it by the number?

    Hi SlickStick M8

There is a two Seater, a T9 in fact, based at Duxford here in Cambridgeshire.

I had the pleasure of filming a 2* USAAF General getting a ride in it.

The cost I am told is £2,500, but you do get to loop in it as I saw.

The pilot, 'Rats' Ratcliffe is on record as saying that the Airframe fitters remark that they are good at bending metal, but can't bend it any where near the way pilots can.

    His office is an Airbus....

I can provide you with more details if you wish!

    Hi SlickSick,

IIRC all the 2 seat Spits were made by the Irish Air Force after WW2.There were no RAF 2 seaters in WW2.

This doesn't help of course in your quest...

    Best Regards,
    MB_Avro.
