I have made a backup of the game when I was installed it (in a separate folder named 4.01). For the case if anything goes wrong.
Well it went wrong and I needed to uninstall/delete PF.
After I simply copy/paste files from 4.01 backup folder to a IL-2 Forgotten Battles folder everything was working just fine.
Except resolutions.
Here is the picture:
Other than these resolutions I can not get any other by default game res options. Same is from IL-2 setup.exe.
For directX/OpenGL situation is the same.
However I have managed to get custom resolution if I change a line in conf.ini:
[window]
<span class="ev_code_RED">width=1152</span>
<span class="ev_code_RED">height=864</span>
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=1
Use3Renders=0
That is for example, for 1152x864 resolution. (this 'custom'
resolution will work ONLY if my desktop reolution is 1152x864).
Here is the question:
Can anyone help me to get more resolution options within game so I don't have to change it within conf.ini anymore?

Try running IL2Setup.exe / PFSetup.exe (in your game folder) and make sure you have the correct choice for your graphics card on the Video tab.
P.S. That flashy .gif in your sig is a little big... file size limit for sigs/avatars is 40KB.

I have nVidia FX5600 and I have set up IL2Setup accordingly, (NVidia GeForce 5200..5900 - 1.x shaders) but no luck.
Resolution options stays the same.

I have installed the merged type FB+AEP+PF 3.00m version.(path: D:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles)
Then I made a backup of the game -- copy/paste IL-2 Forgotten Battles folder to a backup folder named 4.01
(without patching).
When I messed up my game installation, I have uninstalled it.
Then I have copy/paste IL-2 Forgotten Battles folder from backup folder to d:\games\.
And patched it accordingly 3.01, 3.03, 3.04 and 4.01.(I suppose the game is now exactly the same as it is with regular install, just without registry entries)
And send a shortcut to the desktop, both for game and IL2setup.exe
.
Game is working fine, except for resolution options shortage. I was hoping that the issue is simple but since I can see that it may not be that simple, I will make whole new FB+AEP+PF install.. then I will see is it going to stay that way again.
I just hope that it isn't some sort of registry related thingy..

Change the Save Aspect=0 it will keep your custom unless you go back into resolutions then it will default back to the lowest . I use 1280x1024 cuz its my LCDs Native Res and that works for me

Thanks for tip LT.INSTG8R.
If I don't find a way to enable those nasty resolutions to work again, I will be forced to use your tip.

Well some unfortunate events for me had happened.. My computer was apparently get infected with smitfraud.c trojan horse (or something like it).
My antivirus did not react on time and it messed my explorer.exe and some other important files.
All I got when I try to start my system, was blue screen with some message to scan computer because it is infected with mentioned virus/trojan.
Fortunately I have saved files that I needed from C: disk, and then I reinstalled windows.
After all that I reinstalled FB+AEP+PF, and I got options for more resolutions again..
It is most likely related to registry (but I can not be sure).
