I am a game developer, not for SH4 mind you.

I can tell you straight up 90% of our developement team read all the relevant forums, and we regularly discuss issues on our own private forums or in the office.

If there is one thing we all soon realised, no matter how hard you try to please people there will always be people you cant please..........and of course some issues are often blown completely out of proporition.

One of the biggest reasons this forum 'kicked off', was because the devs never once came here and talked -we obviously have since found that they had moved on to pastures anew. UBI have a weird policy of not talking to their customers it seems. Whereas EA(C&C3),BIS,Bethesda for eg keep their customers reasonably happy.

Now some devs have been herded back (SH4) and will work on patch 1.3
When the apology and announcement (re: possibility of no patch) was made here, it was little, too late.
Distrust and anger had set in and it was a shame, since it wasn't needed to treat customers like that.
Lot's of issues could have been diffused if UBI had addressed the forums earlier.

    Nonsense.

Firstly the developers have not "moved on to pastures anew"... some have be re-assigned to other projects as needed. A number of the main ones never left the SH4 project.

Secondly far from not communicating with their customers, UbiSoft came here, and to several other forums, to solicit input as to whether or not a third patch was needed, and if so, what were the main issues that needed to be addressed.

Instead of welcoming this as an opportunity to get the major remaining hardcoded problems fixed once and for all, a large percentage of the population went ape***t with threats of boycotts, lawsuits and physical harm. Instead of calmly listing of the REAL need for a patch, a lot of people simply went into juvenile attack mode. And, as I have said before, now people wonder why they don't interact with you more?

So now history is being re-written to the point where all of the childish behavior on all of the forums was UbiSoft's fault.

    Pure, unadulterated nonsense.

Two weeks ago, when it wasn´t clear that there would be a new patch, you told people they should be happy with what they have and that they should stop complaining about the situation. You even wrote that you don´t understand people who want rushed patches. And now you want them to get the patch out ASAP? Doesn´t make sense...

In case you already forgot what you wrote a while ago:

That was THEN, and THIS is now! After suffering more than enough crashes to the desktop and still not being able to use the Chronometer, the game still lingers in an unplayable condition. Not to mention the lack of a Narwhal thus far.

I had faith the dev team would come through for us, but now, I'm not so sure. They did state that they would release a patch 1.3, but their word is about good as a rotten apple considering they lied to the whole community and put us on the backburner. When I posted before, I didn't know they were going to play games with the community about releasing a new patch and making us "beg" for it. As much as I pressed the community to play the game before and as much as I sided with the DEV team and UBIsoft, I have shifted over to the dark side of the force, to show my lack of appreciation towards UBIsoft and for their continual lies and bad customer service. Now they treat us all like a bunch of little dogs and tease us with little bloody meat scraps they dangle over our heads to see how "loyal" we all are. Hmmph! We're better than that even if UBI doesn't think so!

Anyway, it was good talking with you again Gizzmoe, but don't you have some moderating to do over there at SubSim? You wouldn't want Neal to know that you've been neglecting your duties and abandoning your post to come over here and talk to me!

As far as I'm concerned they can take their time fixing the game and get it right this time around rather than rushing and making more bugs or not fixing bugs at all. There's no point in having patch 1.25 when we can have a full 1.3.

I find it amusing that people complain about not having a patch, and when they say its being worked on they still complain that they can't have it that instant.

I think that Ubisoft's PR would certainly benefit from a fresh set of eyes looking at what they do and the way that they do it.

I'm not at all surprised that the Devs choose not to interact with this Forum though. Way too much Drama and knee jerk reaction here.

Exactly, and the same reasons our dev teams do not directly interact with the forums, purely read only

Precisely what goes on with another sim I play. Something gets tweaked to appease one group and the other side starts kicking & whining like a 2 year old brat. Just do the best ya can with it.
