End 2007 sounds good to me that gives enough time to live with my current system and FB+AEP+PF is still very cool in fact it’s the best World War II flight simulator by a long way!

I hope Oleg his BOB will succeed where BOB2 Wings of Victory failed miserably!

I agree with all of you.
    - IL2/AEP/PF is the best ever flight sim.
    - 1C is a superb company with amazing behaviour towards the customer.
    - I would have no problem if BoB comes out next century.
    - BoB will sell very well.

Still, it would be rather unnatural to have the last patch in 1-2 months and then BoB come out 2 years later. Don't you think?

Two years is a long time in the software business. There is the usual push-pull of hardware advancements driving software which makes today's bleeding edge engine, yesterday's relic. What worries me most about the lofty predictions of BoB, is the long leadtime. The higher polygon counts and greater detail of BoB aircraft alone will require more time on the order of magnitudes than did the aircraft of the current FB series. The more man-years required, the higher the cost and lengthier the delivery dates. As difficult as it is to finalize and release an approved flyable airplane in this game, you can imagine how fewer and farther between they will be if they require quadruple the work.

Once upon a time Electronic Arts was on a roll with their Janes series. They foretold of plans for integrated simulations encompassing air war, land war with armored vehicles, surface vessels and submarines, all with online capability for engaging in an ongoing virtual war in all aspects. It didn't happen! Contracts ran out, the software business changed focus and a nice idea vaporized. Only 1C knows how long they can subsist in the development phase. One thing in their favor is the niche market they serve, otherwise like the highly touted and long awaited Half-Life 2 with its benchmark graphics, they could be passed by the air combat version of games like Far Cry that robbed HL2 of much of its innate glory. I shudder at the thought of what a 2 year hiatus could mean.

I'm actually not in a hurry for it. I will definately buy it. I would hope though that this sim would continue to be supported with small updates and add-ons.

After that they can add Palestine 1946-47. Yak9s, P51Ms, and Spit21s...mmmmmmmm.

Do you think Bob could me merged like PF was. That was one of the best features in PF for me 2 games as one! I really like 1Cs attitude toward there customers adding cool little features like that. Ive just been so used to EAs rush rush rush and patch later policy that it really awesome to come across a company that is actually trying to make the best game they possibily can.

It won't be. BoB is based on a new (modified) game engine, with features that are incompatible with the old content.

    2 years.

    2 weeks.

    Coincidence?

Two years does seem like a loooong time in between releases. Aren't 1C working on a Vietnam-era helicopter sim that may come out in the menatime, though?

1C is a publisher that has many smaller development houses. Maddox games, that makes the IL2 series, is not involved with the helicopter sim.

BoB is now expected maybe this time next year I think. Slim to negative chances that it will be merged with older products...the engine is totally new.

This is for the best. Time to throw off the shackles of the old and build a new engine.

He he, he already did that. But nevertheless I agree with you, it would be then literally international.

    Who can wait?
