Sorry to disagree guys on the 800x600 capture, I use quite a lot of shots at 1024 x 768 so I can €œoff centre€ the object greatly, makes much better cinematography.

    My two pence worth

Monty-Dan. I just wanted to ask this off-centre business. In the replay of NTRKs, press F2 and your plane is always in the centre of the screen. I imagined that if you use FRAPS (sorry I haven't got one), you can never avoid this because you always record as it shows on the screen, and if you want to use the 'third rule', you'll have to crop it yourself later.

Are you saying that FRAPS allows off-centre capture on a higher resolution? Or is it simply that you capture it at 1024x768 and from it you crop the edge outer edge so that you get 800x600 in one side of the original picture?

    No Snatchio.

When you capture at 1024x768 the image you see is the image you capture.

However if you put a 1024x768 video onto a timeline that is 800x600, you can apply a moving path to the video and move it off centre.

and that's all I'm saying as it's the same as breaking the magician's code...how could you Monty?

Ahem.. funny that. I seem to recall a similar discussion between Monty and Joe and then the penny dropped.

Play fair children or I'll open my cans of wriggly things.

You can, after all capture at what ever you wish providing the end result of the footage is smooth and your PC can handle it.

Stay tuned for more helpful insights!!

Ok, Ok, I give in now....

Is this a movie makers forum or a "look at my movie with all my secret stuff".... ...I can't seem to find Mr GL2's guide to making movies anywhere......

Did the sticky back plastic fall off into the ether?

I dont think there's much help going on.

PC technology seriously hampered movie making. Top spec cards were expensive. Cards such as ATI 9800 were approx 300. You can now get them for next to 75. The world of graphics change and so should movies.

Hey, don't look at me for answers. My only claim to fame was convincing a dozen odd people I actually knew what I was doing when we launched FH&C! There...I admitted it!! Mwahahahah!!!

Glad you guys posted links to all those great movies. I had been thinking about downloading "Requiem" again for ages but didn't know where to get it from. It is still my all-time favourite Il-2 movie. Really moving without being preachy or heavy handed. Even my wife, an avowed Il-2 hater, thought it was good.
"Come with me" is a VERY close second - the editing is superb and the music suits it so well.

Snatchio - I just watched your effort. Kawaaaii!!! and chotto Kowai! I liked Churchhill's speech and the dialogue you edited in from Star Wars was great and seeing the two wee girls was excellent. It did seem to be a bit of a mix of two separate movies - one serious, the other a nice family movie- but it was very well done. Definitely original, that's for sure.
You mentioned talking to Mitsubishi Heavy - are you in the Kansai area? I'm in Kobe and a number of my students work for Mitsubishi (or maybe Kawasaki Juuko) - I forget which one.
    Anyway, that was great movie.
    Thanks.
