I don't experience any difficulty being tracked on lunges. I do recall getting out of rhythm at first with the side lunges and the side to side lunges. But I discovered two things: 1) start with a wider stance 2) don't come up too high when coming out of the lunge. That helped me a lot.
I have also noticed that when I start a new routine that one side will receive a higher percentage score at first. This is because I tend to be stronger on the one side, most people are. After a time of really working at it the score evens out and I can do just as well on both sides.
I have the same problem. I do okay going to the right, but it doesn't recognize them at all to the left. It keeps saying I'm out of rhythm. I watch the trainer and match her moves exactly and it doesn't help. I've tried moving forward/backward in the "box". I've also tried lunging lower/higher and that doesn't do anything either.
I had a hard time scoring well on my lunges when I first started the game. I was failing big time.
It helped when I spread my legs farther apart. This made them a bit easier to do and it increased my score.
It took a while before I was able to do all the reps. I still hate lunges but I just keep thinking "its for a good cause, it's for a good cause" over and over. That helps too.![]()
I'm just curious if anyone can confirm with certainty that scoring a low % means you don't move forward with your routine in the cardio/toning/sculpting series. Because I can confirm with 100% certainty that your % does not affect your calorie count, which means a lot of people should worry a lot less about the overall scoring.
(my test was just to stand there and watch the calories. I think it was actually during lunges that I stood still and the calorie counter went from 22 to 26 and my score was 6% for that exercise)

I believe the cardio/toning/sculpting series requires you to get better at doing the moves before it will introduce new ones. I thought I read somewhere here on the forums that a Husband and Wife were doing the same routines but she is getting new moves and he is not. He seemed to think it was because her scores were better.Originally posted by foosifur:

I do believe there is a relationship between doing well on the exercises and the calorie count. That doesn't meant you won't get any calories if you get a low score, or as in your test do nothing at all. But my calorie count is always higher when my percentages are higher. For example I am getting a higher calorie count in the Bollywood Dancing now that I have sorted out what I was doing wrong with the Jaanu Step.Originally posted by foosifur:

I am saying this only for the sake of accuracy on your Wiki. I do agree that if someone is doing the best they can they should not obsess over their percentage scores. I feel they are there as something to move toward and not something to expect all at once. They are for motivation, they are not for measuring the accuracy of the sensor. I tend to get high scores NOW because I have been working at it long and hard. And when I mention them it is mostly to emphasis that the game is working - under my particular set of conditions which are: very good lighting but smaller then optional play space - and that high percentage scores are indeed possible.

Thanks NanoParticle for the info. I suppose I will put it through some more testing but my only two concrete observations at this moment have been that I was getting 4-5 calories per lunge during the NIVEA workout that has 3 consecutive routines of 3 lunges each, and as I said when I stopped during the 5th lunge set I still got 4 calories despite my 6% for that exercise. Maybe the modifier is not as straight forward as max calories x % but something more forgiving. I also get either 56 or 57 calories for the arm workout and just assumed that was rounding but I'll play a little more and see if anything turns up.
Trying to be diligent with my follow-up.
I did the cardio boxing silver part 1 since it was a nice straight forward 4 minute workout. I stood in place and ended up getting a 6% overall and registering 10 calories burned. Then I did it for real, got 100% and registered 29 calories burned. So there you go, it definitely makes a difference, I'm just not sure why I get 10 calories just for standing there!
And just so it's clear, I'm not knocking YSFE which I'm enjoying as a workout program. I am just trying to understand it better overall because I feel like a lot about what it does behind the scenes is a mystery.
