Well, Oleg has stated that there is enough content and models in their hands at the moment to keep them going for a "long time".

Make of that what you will. I think that it means there is a significan backlog of things that are waiting to be implemented into the sim. There are a heap of excellent 3rd party models out there for European and Pacific theaters. I think the reason why we keep getting so much European content is that there are people out there wo are willing to invest their time and energy in researching and making the models. Plus there are projects that were begun before PF was announced that are only now seeing fruition. The Pe-2, Italina birds, the mosquito, the Ju-88 all these were begun some time in 2004, maybe even earlier. We are sitll fecieving the FB/Ace Expansion Pack 'Hangover Effect'

We know Flyable Betty is in the Bag, and Ki~100 too.

Don't forget the J2M3 cockpit we saw and Panicked about (the yellow glass...modder developing effect).

Also, Zneg is working feverishly over the B6N crew stations. This is a difficult cockpit to make, so it should (hopefully) be releaced in later Patch....

I think Tagert's right exactly- It could not be better for us that 1c is 'borrowing' FB/PF for use as a test bed for BoB.

BTW whats with all the ninnies fretting over
'THe LAst Patch' anyways...you will still own the greatest Combat Flight Simulator of our time, until BoB comes along in 2006...even if it never gets patched again.

Ofcourse it has been said by those in the know that there is a great deal of content for FB/PF still in the pipeline so quitcher cryin' already

Ya, but will a Test Bed be a sim that we can use as a sim? Just thinking if this means the End of future Patches for FB and PF as a commerical product--from now on, new Patches are tests for BoB. Not that there is anything wrong with that, as UBI could Tolerate new FB/PF content if it helps the development of BoB.

But I have "thoughts" like...will the AI perform relative to the New FM so the AI are still useful in making good PF/FB missions and campaigns? --> it could work out better, who knows!!

Another:: We thought it took Weeeks and Months to program the old FM for each FB/PF plane. Now all the planes will have New FM programming? Maybe the New FM is easier to program? Maybe the New FM is a radically new method of FM creation. Maybe we will finally see the real reason behind the controversial 109Z Experiment.

I guess we'll have to wait and see about the above, Lexx...

One thing I'm pretty sure of, though, is that while they're using FB/PF as a test bed for BoB there is a big chance that 3rd Party Development will continue to go on, and probably be integrated into the further post 4.0 releases.

After all, this next upgrade has reduced from a reputed 'CD size' to 100 megs, so we're not getting a huge number of new 3rd party planes just yet (don't worry kids, there will be some for both theatres, I'm sure), considering that there's three maps and the new FM code to go within that.

So, assuming that there are some more patches to come to tweak/develop the pre-BoB flight model, there's a good chance that the 3rd party models that didn't make the deadline for whatever reason will have a good chance of making into the sim in the future.

So I'm optimistic - - even if the FM does take a while to get used to, or even to become playable, the prospect of extended development on all fronts keeps me in high spirits.

    Cheers,

Sorry but I didn't spend the money on PF/AEP gold just to be a beta tester for a upcoming product in which I need to spend more money on
Not to mention the possibilities of having to fork out more money on computer upgrades just to run it.
If you want to utilize new fight models and features in a new sim then do so but don't go changing what we already have and is proven to see if it will work.
I don't much care for the fact that I now have a sim that allows me to fly online with my friends with pretty good quality, just to be forced a patch that everyone will surly switch to that may not run worth the **** on my computer casuing me and many others not to be able to enjoy the online experiance.Without added cost of upgrading thier computer.
If you want to add a new engine, FM what ever that you already admit will use more CPU in BOB go for it, don't force people into it by the deception of a long awaited patch.
Makes one wonder if someone is cutting deals with hardware manufacturers ??????

In the end I will probably buy BOB,just because when it comes to a Combat sim this is the best, if my computer can handle it great if it can't so be it, but I shouldn't be force fed the newer technology in the form of a updated/add-on/patch or whatever for a sim that doesn't seem to have any major problems at all.
