I suspect that a lot of talented people have ideas for very good films they want to create, but they're unwilling to invest the time to make them when BOB is on the horizon. Nobody wants their masterpiece's visuals to become second rate overnight.
    Amen brother!!

I myself had many movie ideas that I have written down over the past couple of years but never pull the trigger on any of them. Mostly because of laziness and procrastination. To be real honest with you guys I don't think I'm really capable in making a good film. One of my many issues for me is being consistent, staying focus long enough to start and finish an movie project. I will do all the research needed to get started and then I will procrastinate on it for a long periods of time...and then lose interest.

    Want to...Wish to...Won't!!

My present rig is over three years old and really showing it's aged sadly. I'm presently working on building a new computer that will be not only be a little quicker and liquid-cooled as well. Even if I had a fairly fast computer I'm not sure i will ever be able to make a movie even with a faster rig. It not that I don't know how to make an movie...again it's the laziness procrastination issues for me.

This forums has been effectively "dead" for a very long time. It never really got off on the right foot, well at least not as well as i had hoped it would.
I agree right now this forum is very slow lately Davinci...no doubt about it. I don't agree that it was always been that way. There were a lot of films release from back in 2003 through 2006. IL-2 is the best WWII Flight Sim on the market but you must remember that it is really showing it aged now. Like you I been around this flight sim and forum since 2003...can't believe it's been that long?

Plus I should well over 2000 posts...not 951...I was robbed I tell you!!

I believe that once Bob comes out (someday soon I hope), you will see an many more films being produce and made...not just by newcomers but by veteran film makers as well.

Regarding BOB; I get the feeling that the release date is becoming a bit of a pipe dream, no solid news is coming from the Maddox clan, been delayed for over a year now? The credibility of it actually being released is losing ground, we can maybe wait another 2 years!
biltongbru you might be right...I hope your wrong...

    Best Regards

It's true about projects, it really is.

While F,H&C was in production I put "Not my time to die!" on hold, and that adds pressure because you want to do your best for one film, but also keep some ideas for your own.

On top of that, you have a committment to the guys who are helping and creating skins, audio and taking time to fly your scenes.

That's why, after NMTTD was finished I took a year out before considering another project, and "Checkertails" really will be my last film.

It takes huge amounts of private time, has little reward (financially '0') other than the praise you recieve from the viewers but ultimately it's just something you feel a sense of pride in.

"Checkertails" is ballooning at the moment with original 325th WW2 pilots checking facts, they will be flying in the Documentary along with other virtual pilots, we have some never before seen photos (ever!) and film footage, all inter-weaved with IL2 footage to hopefully create a Documentary to do justice to the guys of the Clan.

But, to know that these guys who actually took part in WW2 are talking with Monguse and I in letters and Teamspeak.....you can't ask for better motivation really, can you?

    Cheers, MP

    Hi biltongbru,

    Possible Movie Competition:
Sounds great, but without trying to kill the idea instantly, as Joe stated this idea has reared its head a few times previously and never got of the ground. I think the reasons for it not taking off before was due to no one having a suitable Web Site to host the movies, and that the movies were to be judged by a panel of individuals which could never be organised.

However, I like your idea that the Forum will judge and here is a solution to the Web space problem

    Web Site Space:
As you are aware I have my Montydan.com web site, which has unlimited disk space with a monthly transfer limit of 3100 GB. What you have not yet picked up on is that my site is also host to BBlokes Movie database as well as Joe90 Flightsim site.

If you do get the competition off the ground I would be happy to offer my Website as a host for the movies, but I will not offer administration time, that would have to be done by another trusted party from my point of view.

    Forum activity:
Since the dawning of the movie project Faith Hope and Charity around 30 months ago, that was the start of the forum slow down, as it took all the main movie makers and other contributors at that time out of the loop of producing their own movies. Once FH&C was complete, the team needed a well earned rest, and some are only just coming back into action now. This is solely the reason why the amount of quality movies reduced in the first place, but now it appears that the reason today is that everyone is waiting for the BOB Storm of War flightsim. I personally would not wait if you have a movie to make, just get on with it as the end of 2008 looks like the earliest for BOB!

However, the level of activity in this forum has not been so bad over the past 6 months or so, I had a quick count of good movies produced in 2008 and it stands at around 7 so far (I have excluded all YouTube shoot em up's), and things should get more positive soon. I know of a few movies that are in the works at present including one of my own which should be released in around 6-8 weeks if all goes to plan. This coupled with the newer batch of movie makers going through the learning curve; we should see an ever increasing amount of movies through 2008.

So, I hope you pull off the Movie Competition and if you need any help on a text only basis I will be happy to try and help out. I also encourage all movie makers to get on with making movies now, rather than wait for BOB.

    Good luck

    Monty-Dan

BBloke, are you willing to host the competition?, you have a lot of energy as witnessed with the IL2 database site that you created?
I can see Monty-Dan has posted up that il2mdb is a part of montydan.com to which he has allowed me to use his resource.

As a for instance, the IL2MDB site took almost 2 months to get to a full working model and live on the web. It wasn't a sole effort on my part but had collaboration from 5 others.

What I can do is generate a means to get the movies onto the web for download via Montys site or through IL2MDB with an independent styling but the design would have to be left in your hands.

    Thanks Monty for the offer!

Thanks all the guys for your proper inputs; the fact that many of the old guard has responded so well is an indication that the interest is still high and we must try to keep this forum alive.

Thanks also BBloke; I think myself and BBloke can hopefully work something out and present it to the forum?

Hey guys! this is my first post on the website. I was actually looking for a movie making forum to try and get moving because I've been at a complete stop. I really think a competition would be great! I think everyone should vote on a few general movie ideas together then whichever gets the most votes all of the people competing will have to use the idea in any way they want.
ie. "a kid can't find his way home"
person 1-comedy. The kid gets lost but is raised by a pack of talking wolves until his family finds him sucking on mother wolf's nipples (very bad example but just going on whatever's in my head

Your idea is starting to take shape biltongbru. It would be really cool to give those that are active in making movies or have an idea that they want to try that little bit of motivation to do a better job!

Have you had any ideas how you would pick the winner?
