I tried to install the new patch. It came up with cannot load, change in campaign file whatever it was. I moved that file. Tried again and now another file was preventing loading of the new patch. I did a compete uninstall of game and reloaded. My old files saved and games saved were still present in the new install. I started the game and it crashed like a one wing plane and crashed hard. I did a complete install w/o mods and saved games. Patch loaded fine.

The new goodies are great and game play is easier with some of the new functions. At this point, I plan on staying away from the mods. What I see looks great to me. Thanks for the patch.

Please add some port traffic. Fun sneaking in and torpedoing helpless docked vessels!

    New bug?

Now that the radio and sonar men cannot tell what type of contact they have they no longer verbally announce any contacts at all.

I was travelling through some heavy fog when the stealth meter turned red. I went to periscope depth immediately and then went to the nav map. There was the black line but the sonarman never said a word.

I was approaching my anticipated intercept point for a 'map update' contact on the surface. I went to the nav map to double check distances and a gray radar contact popped up, but the radio man didn't say anything.

I assume that since all of the verbal announcements contained either the word merchant or warship, and now that the crew cannot tell the difference until they've been visually acquired, the verbal announcement's have been removed entirely.

So not only can we not tell what type of contact it is (which is fine for radar ONLY, not hydrophones), we don't even know when we do get a contact unless we're staring at the nav map.

And no, I was not in any level of time compression in either instance. This is not good. Not good at all.

This does happen to everyone, right?

I have the same issue with the reported contacts - there are no verbal messages any longer and I just have to be looking at the nav map to even notice it.

    This needs to be fixed.

I wish we could get some verbal feedback about some of these complaints from some one in the know on the dev team.

I'd love to comment further but I can't run SH3 with patch 1.3

I can load the game to the main menu and I see V1.3 in the lower right corner. When I start a mission, the game crashes to desktop and sends a report to M$

I did some basic diagnostics and narrowed it down to an ATI catylist 5.4 conflict.

After reading others posts hear I have a hunch that the system requirements are increasing with each patch, but no such change has been noted that I have found.

Another possibility is a memory leak, but I don't have the tools to test that.

    I am running:
    AMD athlonXP 2400+ @ 266mhz clockspeed 1.99ghz
    1.5gig ram @ 266 mhz
    ATI radeon 9800 pro 128
    Sounmd blaster Augidy Z2
    WindowsXP SP2

    All drivers updated.

I rolled back to 1.0 and I find the performance much better than 1.2, especialy when exellerating the game clock.

No big problem for me, very happy with 1.0

I found after installing 1.3 that sonar contacts are no longer red (warships); they are all black. I also never hear any reports from the sonar operator. I hope this gets fixed with the next patch if not sooner.

    Thank You
