O.T.S77 thanks for the imput I'm gonna try uninstalling and reinstall with 1.2 before I mod up. I figured 1.2 wouldn't play on 1.3 saves so I guess I'll try when I compleat the one I'm running now-I started at 39 and it's Jan 43 now- . Been rereading "Das Boot" lately and I'm watching it right as I type-at the part when they attack the convoy or rather the destroyers are pounding on then- and I love how much this sim puts me in the story. I first saw this movie-way back when it hit the theaters I saw it on the biggest screen in my town, the "Criterion theater" As I got into playing games later in life I always hoped somebody would put out a sim with the look and feel of the movie. I gotta say this ones pretty **** close.
Another side note, do you know you can get a full uniform on-line for not tht much? I'd love to get my hands on their grey leather gear.

You get the message that your base has changed while you are out on patrol. What will happen is, you return to Kiel, when you get set to go out again, the following will happen, you won't be able to access the crew personal files, you won't be able to change your torpedo loadout. You go to the map and you will see that you will transit from Kiel to St. Nazaire. You will not be assigned a patrol area. This doesn't mean you can't go patrol somewhere.
Thanks seewulf01! St. Nazaire showed up on the map with me at it after I docked back at Keil. I wonder if this was a 1.3 screw up or not. I dont remember if St. Nazaire was on the Nav Map or not in the other versions.Originally posted by Seewulf01:

The French ports in the Bay of Biscay area became available dependent upon time of capture by the German Armies and when they were able to service the needs of the U-boat flotilla infrastructures. I don't believe this to be a 1.3 patch bug, but more of a historical issue. One advice I will pass to you, when you operate out of the Biscay area in mid-1941, beware of lurking Allied destroyers. Historically, the British sent submarines or small ASW groups into the Bay of Biscay to slow down the U-boat threat, eventually, they would send stronger ASW Groups and aircraft to make life unpleasant for U-boats arriving or departing the ports in the Biscay area. Currently I'm homeported in Brest and on a couple of occasions have come across an ASW patrol.

Sorry, but mine goes back for a refund in the AM. Why? I expect a game to be playable right out of the box on late model computers. Was this released to early and needed more testing ? Yes, I patched. Better, but still crashes. I read though some post in the tech section and saw many idea's on how to make this game work. Am I going to uninstall software that installed with the game ? Am I going to install more software from Microsoft to make the game playable ? Am I going to lower my sound settings so I can play SH 3 ? Sorry folks, my answer is no. At some point in the game (after latest patch) I know I'm going to get a auto reboot. This is not exceptable to me. At one point while playing (after 1.3 patch) it shut my system down (power down) and was un-startable untell I pulled the plug for 3 minutes. I love the concept of SH 3 and will enjoy playing it someday after we, they repair a great game. Have a good day.
The magnetic torpedo model is not good.
1)"Torpedo hat ziel verfehlt" everytime I score a magnetic under bow hit.
2) Ships often need more than one under the bow hit. One hit under the bow (magnetic detonator) should be enogh to crack a ship in two it says in the manual. A battleship should sink from one such hit. That does not seem to be modelled correctly.
3) There is a lot of game chrashing when using the default buttons for crew managment.
