I have played the game with just the new patch and nothing else. The watchman does call out ships at a good distance (heck sometimes I cannot see the ships!) So I'm OK with him. Sonar man is in want for a hearing aid. It is true that my working of the sonar, I hear churning screws yet sonar man cannot hear it. Infact, sometimes the ship is just about on top of me and he is listening to Mega Death or some speed metal band. So he needs work! Other then that, I'm pleased with the patch and the game as a whole. The new patch gave it some good improvements and features. I hope they continue to make more patches and correct some of the old issues.

Critical Multiplayer bugs still exist since 1.0 and are present in 1.3. These bugs make multiplayer for clients nearly a deadly experience.

1. CLIENTS CANNOT HEAR PINGING

2. CLIENTS RECEIVE DAMAGE IMPROPERLY FROM DEPTH CHARGES, OFTEN CAUSES INSTANT DEATH or HULL stays at 100% AND LARGE COMPARTMENT DAMAGE

- This have been confirmed now with large number of players and multiplayer sessions, basically damage infliction on clients in multiplayer is totally broken. Clients will receive damage in 1 of 2 ways, both are incorrrect:

I - Depth Charges near the sub, even up to ranges of 50 meters will instantly cause hull to go from 100 to 20% or less and often instant death, while if you play single player or as host, you will receive appropiate damage in same situation.

II - Depth Charges near the sub, even up to ranges of 50 meters will cause serious compartment damage but hull will remain at 100% even if half the compartments have "red" damage and you are about to die. This does not seem occur when you are host or in single player.

This makes multiplayer very bad experience mostly for clients, this bug have been tested and observed for over a month and 80 hours of multiplayer gameplay with large number of different players.

Bottom line is this, currently multiplayer state of the game requries critical fixing.

(Sorry I forgot the UZO - see post above - my attacks have tended to be submerged so I don't use it that much )

I cant understant they left out enemy ships in ports . Everybody wanted this and they just igonre it? Its not even that hard to do it . Makes me wonder if the devs still even read the forums . Otherwise they should have a really good reason to leave it out

Conclusion ? sh-3 still needs a lot of work to give us what they promised not to long ago , But somthing tells me we are gonna have to pay for some of this stuff in.

Yes this is true . But many things mentioned here were promissed in the original version .
For example it would be kind of weird to have to buy a expansion-pack to have a rotating radar , some wolfpacks or harbour traffic , It should have been in there in the first place .

Except this is standard for the entire industry. How come other game companies don't release patches that break the game when working under the exact same conditions?

I can't imagine Ubisoft forcing them at gunpoint to release a patch, since there's no money involved in it. So how is Ubisoft putting pressure on them?

I still find it utterly impossible to imagine it was so difficult to add wolf-pack AI that they decided not to put that in the game.

Especially when games like AotD, and even further back in game history, Wolfpack, had AI capable of doing coordinated attacks between computer and player controlled subs in wolfpacks.

Bugs: Sonar man no longer reports new contacts that he detects. They must be manually requested for nearest one. Watchman seems to work fine however with watch officer on deck. Watchmen by himself suffers from same bug as Sonar man when no officer is present.

ubisoft must take some kind of responsibility of this bull**** and kick the devs.

this game has potential and it's above the devs level of competens.

"kick them out and let the sunshine in"
