    I used to watch "Silent Service" on Saturday mornings (or was it afternoons? the memory banks are cloudy after all these years) when I was a kid. It always followed the US Army's PR/propaganda show "The Big Picture".

    Up here in the half frozen north, I used to watch The Silent Service with my Dad after the hockey game. IF the hockey game ended soon enough, then we'd catch the last half of SS on an American station. That was in the late '50's
