Messervy,
Your Thompson looks magnificient. I second Wilhelm's comment. Those babies are wonderful to fire. At short distances, such as 50-100 they are incredibly accurate, on single fire. I've fired them both full and single, and it is such a blast to experience. Breaking them down and cleaning them is complicated and a bit of a chore, but for a Thompson....no complaints. The rise on full auto is easily compensated, once you get the hang of it. You will be amazed at how fast the brass piles up though. You can go through a lot of rounds without realizing it. It is so much fun. Congratulations.

I dont know who he is, ive found them on a ww2 memorabilia collectors forum.
The weapons are no originals though.
They are very detailed model replicas handmade by use of original blueprints and materials by a japanese company called Shoei.
Their models are absolutely detailed and just lack the fire capability from their original counterparts. (Some are capable of firing blank rounds)
For instance, you can fully cycle rounds trough them or strip the weapon just like the original.
You can even replace parts on original ww2 weapons with their handmade spare parts.

The approval markings are fake but all where they should be.

This prototype for what later became the STG44 was not series production ready for Barbarossa.
Simply impossible to get your hands on a original.
And if one does, then he would propably have to take another mortgage on his house or something to afford such a piece of weapon history.![]()

On the topic of guns Ill post a vew vids of my trip to the gun range on Sat.
M1 Garand, M-16, AK-47
Colt 1911 and Beretta 9mm
Hey all, Great thread!
I am in the USA and will add some Pics soon of some interesting stuff that I have as well.
I had a Thompson too, 1927 Model, with the 50 round drum, and 2 30 round stick clips, case (large) and all the goodies, blade sight and Cutts compensator to boot!
I sold it several years ago to avoid having it "around".
My concern was the people working for me were occasionally in my home and if word that I had it got out, by the time the story got filtered through their friends and alcohol, it would be a chest of Uzi's or Mac 10's and I would have to deal with some a_ _ hole trying to break in to steal what was never there.
I felt like the Mrs and my 3 girls were more important.
A friend bought it from me for a very fair price, and he recently passed on, so it could come home again.
On Shooting it:
I am "a big teddy bear guy" (according to the missus) and had no trouble hitting with it at reasonable ranges. Sure sounds GREAT!
My friend would set it on his chin and fire away, a trick he first saw during his time with the FBI, to show how little "kick" it actually had. He was in his mid 60's and not a big guy at all! I'll miss him too!
I still have several hundred rounds for it, but some other stuff I have will shoot it too, so no waste there.
I have no 'deactivated' or non functional guns, and I hope we never have that kind of gun laws here in the USA. I believe Otrama will try to get them all banned, confiscated etc. Plans are afoot to add a huge tax to every bullet in several states now!
So far the US Constitution seems totally disregarded as it relates to his African birth and Indonesian citizenship, but that's best discussed on some political blog.
I'll bury mine or "lose" them before I quietly surrender them to any government, person or authority, ever. That whole mess starts with mandatory registration, "for safety's sake". Then when they know who has what, comes collection, destruction etc.
Just ask an Australian. Did crime there go away? Really?
For readers in foreign lands, our (US) Constitution gives us the right to keep and bear arms, as a deterrent against our own government getting out of control, not for hunting, sport etc.
An invader would have to deal with an armed population as well as armed forces.
I wonder how many wars wouldn't have been fought with that as a world wide standard?
Some American towns have laws requiring long guns in every home. I suppose it's just coincidental that crime went through the floor there! Yeah, right!
Anyway, great thread!
I'll start with something that will stir up Celeon and Messervy I reckon!
Later!
PS Guns buried in PVC pipe are hard to find and last indefinitely! (with proper prep .... they say)
