    Hello everyone

    We are releasing the patch 3.1 for Tribes of the East today ! The links to download it are at the end of this post.

    I hope that is a good surprise announcement Now, I simply cant copy the release note here, its just too long. There's more than 100 points listed. You will revel in the list and point out what you consider as interesting and important

    So, the main question certainly is, why has it been so long ?
    Well, the main point is that we (Ubisoft) have not pushed Nival to release it fast. It was not a priority, as the game (ToE) was considered quite polished at release, and we wanted this patch to be as clean as possible (ie, not generating its own new bugs). Although the work started on the patch sometime after the game release, we preferred to keep it in testing for as long as it was not rounded up. So, its been mostly stable for a couple of months, and we spent more time getting sure nothing was forgotten in terms of localizations, links, docs, etc. Here it is now, and i'm quite confident that we havent overlooked something. We took our time, that's for sure

    Another question will probably be, is it the last patch ?
    No, it is not. We have more planned, even if we are closer to the end than the start of the patch plan at this stage. We have some more content for Tribes, and even (hopefully) an important upgrade. But that will come later - no tentative date.

    To conclude this message, I have an announcement to make. I am leaving the position of Heroes of Might & Magic producer. Erwan le Breton will now be in charge of the project, he produced Tribes of the East. He has more than a patch plan to manage, dont worry I will also be not too far from the action, as I'll continue (exclusively, from now on) working on Heroes Kingdoms, the webbased version with thousands of players. You will get more news on this project in the coming weeks. We are also taking our time on it to be sure we do it right.

    So, its been five years this month that I started working on this great game, delivering Heroes 5 and two addons, while also working on Heroes Kingdoms and... other projects This is a very complex project to produce, and its been a rocky ride all along - you are aware of a good part of the events that have happened along the development, release and support of Heroes. Its also been very upbringing to dwelve in a large & structured community such as the Heroes fanbase. The interactions have been numerous, very constructive and useful most of the time, even if a lot of them took place backstage. I hope you are happy with the work done here on this unique brand, and will continue to be happy with what will be released in the future.

    Superb with the patch, and quite an impressive list, but does this:

    mean that HoMM VI is being developed?

    Heroes Kingdoms and... other projects
    Might and Magic X?

    On another note, a shame that you are leaving and it has been a pleasure to have you as the Producer of the Game.- Especially in the olden days when you were more active than any other game producer I have exsperienced glad to have you in charge of HoMMK though.

    Also a warm welcome to Erwan le Breton as the HoMM Producer

    It's very nice that you are using your time on the games though. Far more important to have a good and polished game/patch than gettign it right away

    - correct Window Mode support
    - Wide Screen support ( including HDTV resolutions ) (*)
    - Portrait Screen resolutions support
    - Dwarven Subterranean generation for Random Maps

    Stability issues:
    - game no longer crashes after delayed action taken twice
    - game no longer freezes if assassins are engaged in combat and defeated with another hero than Arantir
    - fixed possible multithreading synchronization crash after map loaded and voice over was playing
    - fixed possible crashes when multiple combats triggered simultaneously for same player
    - fixed game crash when player dispels hero curse with several ghosts
    - fixed possible game freezing after a dialog scene at mission end

    Camera, graphics, interfaces:
    - fixed empowered spells announcing again and again when getting artifacts and new skills and having no Destruction Magic skill
    - fixed showing player money, instead of ally's money, when accessing allied town's Town Build through Kingdom Overview
    - fixed ignoring selected upgrades when hiring a "Buy All" caravan from another town
    - fixed fast skipping several turns by quickly pressing End Turn button in missions with no AI opponents
    - fixed sound not played for Stables at adventure map added special Ghost Mode path plotting for Ghosts
    - fixed dead stacks lying around Cyclops having tooltips and sometimes shown as they can be attacked
    - fixed Defile Magic animation fixed announcing Blood Rage bonuses ahead of actual attack
    - fixed and extended combat log messages fixed creatures numbers remain at battlefield after killed by Arcane Crystal added Dungeon's Elemental Vision for player in Duel game

    - bug with abandoned mine fixed ( it supplied only gold before )
    - bug with snow road movement penalty fixed
    - new objects added: Redwood Observatory, Den of Thieves, Eldritch Well
    - fixed rare bug with isolated players zones

    Map Editor:

    - crash fixed when trying to make screenshot if AI-Geometry mode is active.
    - fixed any heroes can have Barbarian's abilities


    - fixed scripted AI was unable to find path to target through heroes' threat area
    - fixed IsHeroInTown script command
    - fixed MessageBox function callback to be called even after message box was closed automaticlly on timeout or turn switch
    - now CaptureTrigger object field works for monsters banks buildings, game will try to call given script function when bank captured
    - fixed growth bonuses was not taken away after dwelling was destroyed from script
    - fixed removing of last creature from stack when there are still more stacks available in monsters army
    - added additional parameters to several script functions
    - added new script functions

    WoW ! This day keeps getting better and better First the fourth race for DoW 2 is announced (Tyranids for those who like them, me ? The Imperial Guard of course !) And now the patch for ToE !

    But sad to see you leave, although it makes sense since you are busy with Kingdoms.

    Also justice, i recall Chuckles mentioning at some point that it was under development.. But this might mean we might hear about it in the near future...

    This makes me really excited.

    Not mentioning the fact that this patch doesn't address some of the blatant balance issues present post TotE *cough*Arcane Archer*cough* *cough*Divine Vengeance*cough* (oops, did I mention it now anyway? ) - all that being (not) said, thanx for all you and the team has done with the game Fabrice. Even if it has indeed been a rocky ride, like you say, by now we've reached a point where we have not only got a very enjoyable game, you've also brought the game an important step in the right direction, which makes the perfect base for further chapters sometime in the future.
