I had some open discussions about the patch with people on the Clanbase Far Cry forums. Perhaps you would like to look those over. The threads are back on pages 4 and 6 now. As for release...all I can say is before Summer.ahh there will be (i hope )
Holy cows that's far away. Over here it's still winter!!!Originally posted by DocSEAL:

Do you know why does it takes so much longer? Is it because of the Linux dedicated server stuff or more issues?
Of course I totally respect that good things take time, but this is long away. This might be a crazy thought but wouldnt it be good in the meanwhile to release a 1.34 that fixes
1) Netcode issues
2) Cheat backdoors (if any)
I think these 2 are on short term vital for Far Cry to even make it to summer (mp wise).

Guys,
For "Summer" read not imminent...
I do not believe that anyone is going to give a date until the patch has gone "golden", as you saw with the Linux 1.33 where Alex was able to give a clue a day or so in advance.
As those of you familiar with coding will know, right up to the final stage of QA selloff, you can find problems that could set you back months...
Would you really want to go back to the days of waiting for 1.2 and 1.3, to be given aimed for release dates, only for them to pass with no patch?
Be patient and let those involved finish the job with unecessary pressure or demands.
When there is a fixed date you will hear it here 1st...
or maybe 2nd

Ahh you guys...Is it better worded before Spring is over? That give a nice noncommital 0-4 month cushion.
There will not be a new version patch before 1.4. The next release will be a more versitile 1.33 Linux dedicated server (compatible with more builds.) The only thing that remains after that is a 64bit 1.33 patch. Of course, Evenbalance's cooperation is needed in getting this out as a 64bit version of PB for FC needs to be created (like they did for AA, Quake4, and others.)
Depends on how you count Spring. Northern Hemisphere or Southern Hemisphere? Is it better worded before Spring is over? That give a nice noncommital 0-4 month cushion.
Here in the northern sub-arctic regions of the US known as Minnesota, spring comes pretty durn late sometimes if you go by when the ice leaves the lakes. I got it, how about we take someone's car (Alex, I'm guessing you drive a fine car made in Bavaria, a perfect candidate) and park it on the frozen lake nearby my home. I'd even set up a webcam to keep an eye on the test subject. When the patch comes out, we drive the car off the ice. If the ice goes out before the patch does ... oops.
Just messing with you all.![]()
